Yes !!!

It HAS to be said that it IS seriously becoming a bit of a "Shane-arama" !!,..:D;) ;)

OR,...Someone Else from Adelaide/South Aus' !!,.. :lol::D

Their 'collective' performane on what is (probably for them), a quite Different experience on a fast and somewhat tricky track of This style and available 'grip' etc, IS to be Seriously 'applauded' !!

A Friendlier more Helpful bunch of guys that are Such 'adept' racers, are Always a Pleasure to Meet and Race with and it has to be said that the 'Inter-Staters' are most definitely acquiting themselves well, against what (from what I have seen so far), is a truly Excellent 'Field' of both Drivers and Car Prep etc.

The racing has Most definitely been Very Fast and Very Clean,..at times probably 'Boring' the Marshals, as they had Nothing to Do !!,..

A Few of the 'Locals' have done relatively Well also, with Troy Boldy,..simply being his usual 'Self' and having Never driven ANY of the cars he was Racing this weekend Prior to the event, has Certainly been 'On the Money' as it were.

I've been Almost completely Happy with my own performances, considering I too was in a similar situation to Troy, (although I Had raced a bit on 1/32 Plastic tracks), but Never This type of 1/32 car on this type of Track,...Heck I only purchased the NSR Mosler on Friday evening,..

And there I also would like to express my Thanks Again to Shane and the general Adelaide 'crowd', for their ongoing Helpful advice in the 'Prep' of the cars they appear to 'Know' Extremely Well !!,..

Thanks Guys !!,..It Has been Most appreciated. :)

The Event generally appears to be going Really well.

Good attendance, in All the classes, Especially SCX NASCAR and Scalextric GT, which had about 30 odd entries !!

Great, Friendly and Jovial 'atmosphere', with Many old Racing Friends and Internet Friends getting to meet each other.

As is usual, once again I'd like to Personally thank James, Wayne and Gary and everyone else doing 'Their Bit',....

Now,..to see if we can provide some Opposition to the Adelaide 'Blitzkreig' in the Plafit races tomorrow !!??!!,...

Cheers :)

Stoo, well said re your "rant" on Friday.

Good to hear the SA boys are aquitting themselves well on the track and off it. I race with (read behind)a couple of them, each Monday night and know they were keen to test themselves and cars against the rest of Aus. Good to hear the event is going well.

All the best for tomorrow.

G'day Guys,

I should be probalbly getting some sleep right now after racing since 8am this morning but i would like to do a few thank you's before hand.

Firstly the Whole event so far has been a huge success (in my point of view) still with one more day to go tomorrow. A huge thanks to all competitors that raced so far in the event including racers from Thunderbird Slot Racing, SA, you guys really put the rest of us in place, From NSW, the Locals from Hornsby Slot Cars, also a decent turn out from the Boys down south at Slotcar Factory, it must have been hell getting from the shire to hornsby on a friday evening. i know what's its like going the opposite direction when going to one of your friday race meets. Also to the boys from SWSRG i belive with a few guys turning up on friday. Also a few members from Xtremetrax all the way from Dapto very decicated in coming a few hrs away to race and go back and do it all again the next day. Also a few people from the Australian Scalextric Racing Club of Australia came in from time to time poking their heads in to say hello and a chat. Also the Boys from Armchair. There were only 3-4 of us but we put up a decent fight in some heats. I hope i haven't missed anyone else but a thank you to all them as well.

Secondly i would like to thank all the organisers that have put up their hands in making this event possible including the Various sponsors of all of the classes run across the 3 days. Also thanks to the staff/crew from Hornsby Slot Cars for hosting the event. the track came up quite nicely. Will be returning for Scalextric Race meets sometime in the near future.

Finally a huge thanks must go out to Shane, the event organiser of this weekend. a lot of time and effort has been put in by him and its payed off quite well in both the event perspective and also racing wise. i wasn't able to catch him at all. shame, there's allways next year. I hope i will be able to help out in the comming years after completing my event management course in the next yr or so.

Personally i had a quite sucessful race weekend. geting into some finals and geting on the podium for Ninco Gt (spical thanks to ray for lending me his car) and also in NSR Mosler (thanks to Shane for shoing me how to correctly gule tries on with out something terrible happening. it usually happens to me alot)NSR classic i just misssed out for the final as well as SCX Nascar. a 5th place in Slot It Group C. I'm glad i didn't let armchair down too much after sponsoring that class. Lastly the Scalextric GT wasn't a success. just missed out in the 1st round. it was an extreamly tough heat though.

Ok, i had my say now. i bet probably 90% of the people who have starting reading this essay like reply have probably skipped to this part. For those of you who missed out this year, its a worth while race meet. the best iv'e ever attended. I gotta start saving up for next years trip to Adelade now.

I hpoe some pictures should be up shortly.

Until then,

Happy Slot Car Racing!

Thanks,

Jason Brooks

What was a real eye opener was the meticulous detail the guys from Adelaide put into setting up a slot car. Not much was left to chance with these guys who were exceptional drivers with exceptional cars. Jazzbell, First Corner Crash, Lenny Broke and Ratracer were the pace setters in each class they raced in.

But, in all humbling experiences must come some good. I have since the Friday evening just passed been reading and re-reading a lot of the setup tips and builds these guys have posted and started to re-examine the way I have been doing things (not well!). So, whilst personally the event was terrible for me I have learned a lot from a great bunch of guys and managed to meet the guys on this forum who we regularly communicate with but have never met.

Special thanks to the Adelaide guys for making the trip to participate and make the event the success it was. Your involvement in the series was appreciated by everyone there.

Also, well done to Hornsby Slot Cars for hosting the Nationals. The track was in excellent condition and the grip was more than I had ever seen there.

Finally, well done to all the sponsors (cant name them so I will leave that to others) for providing an excellent array of prizes for all the well deserved place getters. Some people (Jazzbell and FCC) will have a @#$%load of extra luggage to declare on their return flight home!

Cheers

Spewing that I missed this event, wife is away and soccer season is still running so no chance of attending, had 4 kids at my place last night.

Interesting reading to say the least and it looks like a great event, strangely enough I've never been to Hornsby Slots and I'm definitely going to pay them a visit soon.

I'm fascinated by Jason's comments on gluing tires, especially from someone who I'd expect to know the best mechanism (just shows that we can all learn something).

It looks like everyone had a great time. I'm positive that unless you were wearing a black t-shirt that you'd never make the podium.

I'm going to start a New 'Thread' for All the MCN RESULTS, Photos & extra Post Race commentaries etc.

See Here; 2011 MCN Results & Photos

This thread is way Too Deep and arguably Now a somewhat Superfluous 'Tome' to wade through especially as the event is now concluded !!,..:D

Perhaps if Other people have Pics they want to 'Post', perhaps put them in the New thread.

Cheers,

Stewart

Sounds like a great weekend. Congratulations to all that competed. The satisfaction of competing with a car you bought and/or setup is unequalled.

Hi all just a quick thank you for everyone that attended the event and the great hospitality that was offered to the SA crew.

I made a lot of new friends and learnt a great deal over the weekend.

James for your hospitality, Wayne for your assistance (you must be a national treasure), Stoo what can I say great company and suport, Yngwie great to finally catchupo with you and Dale, the Dappto crew, The Armchair Crew (well bone Jason beating me with my NINCO did not see that one comming but all good fun) and Troy awsome Plafit drives.

Shane and I discussed next years event with the owner of Thunderbird Raceway looks like being the June Long Weekend next year similar formate but we will do a review of this years. Likely to be running ScaleAuto 1/24's

Any constructive feedback or suggestions would be appreciated.

See ypou all next year in Adelaide.

Regards

Ray, was a great meeting with a good turn up. Shame I could not make the Saturday but I will be a definite starter in Adelaide. Will take car set up a little more seriously this time.

Hopefully we ditch the plastic wheel classes!

Cheers

Hopefully we ditch the plastic wheel classes!

Why??? Aren't they the basis of all popular slot car classes.

I agree with you on this one. As annoying as getting plastic rear hubs right is. They are the standard of the class that demands them and therefore they should be raced that way. Slot.its and NSR's come with setscrew wheels so racing them that way is perfectly acceptable. Good tuners have a much bigger advantage with the use of plastic hubs than if you allow set screw wheels anyway so i can't see the need to change (i could tell you why but have to keep some secrets). It also encourages the budget racer to have a go and participation should be the objective not just appeasing the hardcore racers.

4x national champion 6x national runner up. I come second most often but my girlfriends happy.

Hi John sorry did'nt get to talk much over the weekend being so busy with everyone else plus my own cars, but i will not go into next years rules on this thread.

New thread and next years event promotion will be starting shortly for next years event. Have to get over this years first.

I'll give you one tip though, the Ninco lightning model for the Ninco GT class cars will be in the rules allowing the alley pro race product range .
