It dosen't matter where I heard it, what does matter is that poeple are perparing cars for the Nats and need to know the classes are finalised. Reason behind wanting to change to Mini-z is Hornsby is worried on numbers in the JGTC class. Bit of a kick as of just built 2 new Honda's. Not sure if it's concrete unless they anounced the change at the APC on the weekend. regards shane a team thunderbird
stoo23
My reasons for asking 'Sticks' relate to the fact that I was one of the Organisers of this event and it would have been both informative and Honest to have disclosed where you heard such a rumour,..whether it be true or Not,..as atleast if I knew where you had heard the rumour I could confirm it for You and all the others interested in this event. I was Never 'Keen' on the JGT class being included in the first place and am even Less interested in Mini Z's being included. No one has mentioned this to me at all,..but obviously Shane appears to know More than I do. Like I had mentioned previously both here in on another forum,..If you have Any Questions or Queries the 'Hosts' as Bulsara put it, are sponsors of this forum so therefore their details are easily found,..let alone it being the Single Longest running Slot car track in Australia. Why Not Call the Track/Organisers/Hosts and Ask and Confirm for yourselves, either via phone or email,..Instead of just adding 'grist' to the rumour mill. http://www.hornsbyslotcars.com.au/contact/ (02) 9489-5816 info@hornsbyslotcars.com.au James the owner of HSC Rarely frequents this or Any forums and Wayne arguably Never, so yes they Would be somewhat quiet here,..apart from just having had the APC and it's lead up to deal with over this last weekend. JamesC
I was thinking there would be a better turn out for a Mini Z class rather than GTJ, the reason being there are a lot more people running this class locally. The GTJ car is more labour intensive (not to mention the expense), and is more of a specialty class. The Mini Z is a cheaper build and more readily available. Of course if there is sufficient time and people have expressed an interest in GTJ, we could run both classes? I am open to suggestions, James Owner HSC. wwwace
What is Plafit Mini Z class and who runs it? ...This is a popular Plafit Mini-GT Car : It scored third place at last weekend's APC at Hornsby Slot Car Raceway. stoo23
Well, thanks for clearing that up James. Who Runs it? It is a Recent inclusion in the Plafit Series at HSC and also Armchair have been running the cars, although, I think with a Different Plafit Motor (Not 100% sure about that). I tend to agree with James re the JGT Cars, Especially regarding the Cost and time involved in Preparation of the Body, as they are all built from Plastic Model Kits, let alone the cost of the required Chassis for this class. To be honest, I have No understanding why This class is or Would be popular in this country, as it is very much a Peculiarity to Japan, in both Real life and Scale model racing and as a Slot Car, is expensive and far from Durable. The Mini Z's, are based around the Range of 1/28th scale Kyosho Radio Control bodies, which come Pre-Painted and therefore require Very little Modification to Prepare them for Racing and are arguably far more 'Durable' being originally intended for RC use. Also, the chassis choice is a bit more flexible, as either the Excell 1300 or Standard 1700 chassis are allowed. The Rule set as used in the Queensland Plafit Championship and at the recent APC can be found here; 2011 APC Mini Z Rules My personal reservations with these cars are based around the fact that we seem to be inundated with arguably a few too many Plafit based classes at the moment and the fact that they do Not have Interiors and come with Very Dark, "Smoked' windscreens,..so much for Scale Realism eh? The bodies are finished nicely, if but a bit expensive at around $45.00 each and the Overall choice is a bit limited and to be honest, as has often been commented on while testing these cars at HSC, could benefit from a Faster Motor IMHO, making them a bit more challenging to drive. Hope that Helps. Quote https://ascra.com.au/ https://aussieretro.ascra.com.au/
Guest jazzbell
Guy's just a heads up on the race schedule. There will be a change in order of the racing due to another class being added. Nascar SCX will be first up on Saturday 6th of August at 9am sharp. This does make more sence keeping all the RTR cars on the same day. The Mini-Z class is the new class added which will move into the 12pm start time and the event will finish with the JGT class at 3pm. In racing terms this is better for the guy's wanting to race Nascar as the numbers were not going to be there with people not wanting to make the trip back to Hornsby on the Sunday just for the 1 class. I have spoken to alot of the locals and there all for it. So watch out for the changes on the offical site on the above link. regards shane a team thunderbird Edited June 18, 2011 by jazzbell

My question to other racers today is from the Slot it Group C class. what are "Slot It Group C Tyres?" are they factory tires out of the box or something different all together? Can't wait til August! Jason. Quote Brooksy

jimmyslots 1950
Hornsby slot cars will be hosting the 2011 scale modle nationals next year. The dates for this event will be August 5,6,and 7th 2011. Classes will be as follows. 1/32 slot.it 1/32 GT Ninco 1/32 Scx Nascar 1/32 NSR Mosler 1/32 NSR Classic cars 1/32 GT scalextric 1/32 Plafit DIV 1 and DIV 2 1/24 JTC Regards Shane A Team thunderbird Good to see Plafit GTJ's still included along with Mini Z's the 1/32 classes. All will be racing on Sunday so they won't get mixed up with the other classes. The Plafit cars will be going in the opposate direction to the other classes,so having them on the same day makes sense. Practice could be very interesting but I'm sure Wayne & James will allocate organised practice for each class. Makes it very interesting as people racing in multiple classes will have to learn the track in both directions.
