Plafit Superf1 2800 Chassis Build For Apc

Recommended Posts

Need so help with the mounting of my f1 body on to the plafit superF1 2800 chassis.

My first problem is width of the chassis fitting under the body. As you can see from the picture, the chassis mounts sit much wider than the body.

How do you attach the mounting foam to the Lexan body. Last time i tried the first decent crash and the glue pulled the paint clean off the body = Destroyed.

Also I would like a few tips/pictures on mounting the rear wing. How is it attached to the main body.

Also i would like to add a few plastic/Lexan part to my f1 body. Like a larger rear diffuser to accommodate a larger redbull decal, you know what i mean? Just glue a piece of Lexan onto that large thing behind the drivers head so i can get more exposure for my sponsors!? Also larger side parts of the rear wing to suit the decal i want to put on it. I guess in summary is it ok to add pieces of Lexan to the body to better suit the decals.

Hi Chris

I race these at Narangba. With the chassis mounts undo the screws and just turn them around and mount your foam of them with about 5mm over hang. With adding detail. I have added extra lexan on the rear wing and ever on the front wing. As for behind the drivers head i havent seen it done before, but in sure if you check with Werner. He will let you know.

I'll post some pics of my old body and the current one I am finishing.

Cheers Jon

Hi Chris

I'll bring my F1 tomorrow night so you can copy setup, after you've painted the body put some Luckasol tape on the inside of the body where the glue is going.I always glue the rubber to the chassis with kwick grip & 5 minute Araldite on the rubber to the body, gives you a little time to adjust the position.

Cheers Jimmy

To finsh first, first you gotta finish

Hi Chris,

Sorry i have taken awhile to get back. I use some fibreglass tape on the body before glueing. For glue i find Kwik Grip is the best for all the mounting. I buy a tin and empty it into a cleaned out salsa jar. It keeps for a long time and will last you a while to. I find the tube drys out quick.

Cheers Jon

Can someone put pics up, i am trying to mount a body for the apc. i am assuming i will have to cut the foam the same shape as the body but not sure if one thickness is enough to hold the body reliably

Hi Jason,

Just cut the foam similar to this :

You can buy this kind of foam rubber in any Clark Rubber store. Use a scalpel to cut into shape. Use flexible contact adhesive for glueing.

Hope this helps ?

Cheers

Werner
