1.1.1. MODIFICATIONS

(a) It is not permitted to modify the RTR car or white kit in any way other than those parts of free make as described by Art. 1.1.1 (b )

(b ) Parts of free make are restricted to: (i) nuts, bolts, spacers and washers, (ii) the guide and guide nut, (ii) braid, braid clips & lead wires, (iv) axles (v) axle bearings, (vi) ballast lead weights, (vii)3 –dimensional wheel inserts, (viii) M50 spur gear, (ix) M50 pinion gear (check on correct size for the proposed hand out motor).

(c) The ground clearance will be measured with the guide out of play so that all four wheels sit flat on the tech block.

(d) The ground clearance at the start of every race is never less than 1.8mm.

(e) The ground clearance during or at the end of any race is never less than 1.40mm (if found to be in breach during the race, it must be rectified under green - if after the end of the race; it will result in the loss of the total laps scored in the best race bracket during the race).

(f) Rear tires may not under any circumstances be treated with any kind of tyre dressing, or compound or traction product.

(g) Removing dirt, dust and loose rubber particles from the tyres may only be performed with a tape roll or Shellite provided by the Race Direction.

The Scale Auto Carbon Rear wing may not be used, but the rubber wing mounts supplied with these wings may be used. (Should a wing go missing or get broken beyond repair a replacement part may be purchased as long as it is the original part as sold by Scale Auto. For example the BMW part number is SC-7612 and the Mercedes is SC-7614 etc).

(e) All the cars are permitted to use the full Scale Auto Lexan window and interior kits. Only the roll cage from the original hard plastic interior must be refitted to the lexan interior.

(f) Mirrors and wipers on some cars are very fragile and cars will be allowed to race without them when it is obvious that the mirror(s) has broken off. Drivers are encouraged to present cars with mirrors and wipers at the start of all races

(h) No modifications of the body are permitted other than those described by Art. 1.1.6(a-e)

1.1.7. ADDITIONAL NOTES & CLARIFICATION TO RACERS.

(a) Metal body mounting brackets SC-8117 can be used in place of the plastic part as first shipped on the Porsche 911 RSR GT3 cars in early 2010.

(b ) Only Scale Auto lexan interior and window kits may be used where allowed. (The air vent - photo below - that comes with the Audi lexan window and interior kit is not allowed).

IMGP3006.jpg

(c ) The gas filler caps in the Mercedes that are molded into the lexan windows should be trimmed away so that the original plastic filler caps are used. This principal will also apply whenever a lexan part may be moulded with corresponding external body parts restricting the figment of the lexan window.

(d) When fitting the lexan interior the legs of the roll cage may be shortened to be able to fit it into the space between the lexan interior floor and the roof of the car. Currently this is only the case on the Mercedes SLS.

ScaleAutoMercLexanProb1.jpg

(e) The BMW Z4 white kits are supplied with four small front winglets, these may be used at the discretion of the builder. The body kit is also supplied with two different rear wing mounts. Either of these may be used. However, if the mounting legs are replaced with a flexible material, the secondary wing between the mounting legs must be retained.

IMGP3044.jpg

or

IMGP3043.jpg

(f) Racers are warned that cars with missing parts will not be allowed to enter. (Even if it was lost during practice or on the way to scrutineering).

(g) During lane changes no work on the cars at all will be allowed - work on the car may only be done under green.

END.

Does anyone have the lap totals and how it compares with last years?

This was another great 8hrs of racing with the Scale autos for the 2nd year running with improvement by all teams.

Thanks for the best venue in the country Chris and Cathy.

Day started with the hand out motors and tyres. 1 person only from every team was aloud at the fitting area,Bill our race director handed 1 motor and 1 set of rear tyres to each team and looked over while everything was being fitted.

I had know involvement at all this year with this part of the event. In fact I was told the NSR team was given the last motor and tyres at hand out.

I had family commitments and got to the event start time. I give the drivers breifing ,then qualifying was straight after.

Team NSR was up first,I qualified for us and I TQ with a 5.4 seconds, two tenths quicker than last years TQ. After qualifying I had to leave straight away due to family commitments.

First thing to my good mate Noel coming down from Brisbane and racing in the same team again ,thank you. My other team mates Anthony and Daniel for driving a super race all night and super fast.

Note,Anthony is only 16 years old and has not raced since the 2012 event, and Daniel who would be the best driver this country would ever see if he actually raced(freak). Daniel rolled up an hr before the event for a bit of practice and was straight on the money.

We won with an Audi ,some new tricks on the chassis build by Noel and my body was the the best handling scale auto to be seen.

I TQ on yellow and the last bracket came home on yellow. Car was still lapping at 5.4 seconds.

How's this, ground clearance at the start of event 1.8mm,after 8hrs of racing the ground clearance was still 1.8mm

To all the other teams well done.

Special mention has to go to young Rhys,14 years old who was super fast in team cobra. This kid can drive everyone. This boy stayed on and was matching our lap times.

2013 results.

Team NSR. 4921

Team funhouse 4764

It really was a great event and very enjoyable. Unfortunately we had the handling but not the speed this time but it was still a good night out. The track had grip from lap one this year so i think that and everyone has learned a trick or two with the car building accounts for the lap increases. What great cars they are to drive. Fast, punchy and with great looking bodies.

4x national champion 6x national runner up. I come second most often but my girlfriends happy.

I'll second that about Rhys being a very very good racer. I drove beside him and he was very fast and when needed allowed for clean passing. With experience will come consistency and I dare say that he will have that sooner rather than later. The driving by every one was excellent this year enabling us to have very very few track calls hence the reason for higher lap totals . Thanks again to Chris and Cathy for the facility and also to Bill for taking on the scrutineering duties and the race directing and lastly to my team mates for always passing on a car that was as fast in the last stint as it was in the first stint. Looking forward to the Hornsby 8 hour 2014 Scale Auto enduro in the new year..
