I see on the discussion side one of the threads are starting to talk-the-talk....I guess we'll have to see if they can walk-the-walk too...

At least I know that both Tim and Noel must at some level be human, because they use Band Aids, like me, to cope with the blisters.

....just saying.

Almost cried laughing...

On a serious note...Track is challenging, will definitely separate the good drivers from the not so good.

After driving the track and also looking at the names of drivers racing... My word of advice would be to reinforce your car with kevlar or something with ballistic resistance.

Strongest car wins is my tip.

Looking forward to it.... I think.

Good Luck to all racers this weekend, both Locals and Interstate. Hope you enjoy the track, it looks like a beauty. Though the race is long enjoy it as much as you can, even when your coming dead last! it's something I have taken on board since the race from Hornsby  . Look forward to the results. Brooksy.

Hi Sammi,

Are you hitting any of the outside walls anywhere? Or is there enough space for a bit of a slide?

Jan

Yeah it is possible on the outside lanes, especially coming onto the start/finish straight.

However the track still feels very green, quite slippery.

I guess you guys need to get some goop on there and get it gripped up.....that is why a closer wall, like on Garry's track is not a problem. Green tracks need goop, laps, clean, goop, laps..... Every time you clean it a little more goop soak into the surface and eventually you don't goop much to have a nice grip level.

Anyway, as Tim will tell you.....'just drive the car better MF'.....LOL

Look forward to caching up with you guys on the weekend.

Cheers,

Correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding is that this race will be run goop free.

The surface is not shiny and has much more of a matte finish than gloss. Therefore it also feels MUCH more abrasive than both the Hornsby and previous Tbird track.

Will make for interesting racing...

Sammi,

Yes you right, we don't want guys putting goop on their tyres or the track at any time. But I am referring to track prep only. All our enduro's have been run on tracks that are goop prep'd. To run a completely goop free track will be a disaster.

As for the surface - interesting - at MR we also had such a surface and it was amazing how much the front tyres wore. This could be a case of having to change front wheels too, not only rears, or not pass the end of race scrutineering.

......mmmhhhh, maybe we will all have to setup like Noel.....very pointy.

Cheers,

Jan

Jan, I think the wear problem at MR was caused by all the long radius "straights".

Tyres constantly slipping.

If we have to race on a dry track it will be worse than a disaster.

Guys if you spent more time on the track and cleaned tyres and even run new foam and learn the track this discussion would not be happening. Track has been up and running and the amount of people practicing is pathetic . This event is not a beer and pizza event.

If not for a few of us there would be know rubber down.

Would not worry ,team nsr cars drive beautiful on the new track, and yes I've worked my calculations out what I believe will be happening over the 8hrs.

What a bunch of whiners. Jeez... Just drive the car better, motherfuckers! :P

So come on locals extract the digit..

Kev.

Too right...let's get the laps done. It will help everyone; the green track will be good, the drivers will know the track and all the cars will have a better chance of staying in one piece.

BTW, what are the hot laps at this stage and which lanes are the favourites?

Cheers,

very few like you no who (shane) and that sneaky fast Bill J are lapping in the 6.5 to 7 range but the track gets better and better. Going down for 3 hours or so tonight.

Dont want to be one of those drivers on the list that have Sammi so worried. Might need a ram on the nose to clear out those de sloted cars in front of me as I go through  oh hang on even us newbies stop for a crashed car he must mean someone else

I don't normally get too much involved in forum discussions because, as a raceway owner, I don't feel it is, for want of a better term, "politically correct". However, sometimes one just can't help oneself. So, WELL SAID Tim. I don't know if it is a South Australian thing or just slot racers in general but for the most part, all I have heard is whinge, whinge, whinge! "the track has no grip", there are too many curves", "the track has no brakes", "why did you do it this way and not that way?" etc etc etc. Give the bloody track time, it is brand new and still a virgin. Just like a new car, it has to be 'run in' and a few bugs may need to be ironed out along the way.

Don't get me wrong, there has also been lots of positive comments but they seem to be outweighed by the negative ones. Instead of picking the s#!t out of the track, how about a bit of back patting for the guys (Bill, Bruno and Gary) who have put in countless hours building the track, worrying if it will be up to scratch, ( I know Bill has lost many hours sleep worrying about it) making sure everything is level and the corners don't have negative cambers etc etc. The building and preparation that has gone into the the track to make sure everything is spot on for its maiden event is phenomenal and the guys out there who have built tracks know what I mean.

So, on a lighter note, I would like to personally thank the 3 Amigos, Bill, Bruno and Gary S. Also, Gary Johnson for supplying the design, interface and software as well as technical advice and to our very generous neighbour Steve, who did an awesome job on the lane routing and support legs etc. Also to Shane A (who's spelling hasn't improved much ;) ) for the new track inspiration and all the promotional work. I would also like to thank the interstate teams for taking time out to travel to SA, as well as the local teams to help make, what will be another great event at our raceway. So, come Saturday @ 2pm, good luck to all the teams because when the flag drops, the bullshit stops.
