Orakei Racer
Hi Guys Final round with 2 points between 1st and 2nd - this will be the decider. Aim is to run qualifying this Sat and the actual round Sunday morning. We may be a little short on help as this is the second proxy round we have had to run on consecutive weekends with one more next week, however we will get them done. Good luck to everyone. The usual suspects are at the top. We will run the race on Sun morning and I'll try and post the results in the afternoon. Quote Orakei Racer Slow is smooth, smooth is fast! Orakei Racer
Ok Round 8 is completed. Thanks to the club members that were able to give up their Sunday morning sleep-in to help. The round went well, no damage to report. Most of the qualifying times were bettered as the drivers and cars warmed to the task. CharlesX's Mclaren M6 suddenly re-discovered it's grip after 2 heats and finished mid pack. AquaKiwi's Alfa made a surprise top 4 placing with only segments separating 4th to 7th places. Unfortunately his Lola made a slow start on Yellow and got tangled in some offs due to close racing but recovered some momentum in the other lanes. It's been a great battle with my Alfa, Well done everybody - not sure if this will be the last yr for Can-Am but it's been a great series over the years. Final results below: Quote Orakei Racer Slow is smooth, smooth is fast!

charlesx
Hi David and all. Thanks to everybody for such a great series. A fitting climax for the Canam Proxy started by SlotsNZ/Mark Burgess so long ago (my M6a has run in all but first). Hope we will see again in a couple of years as I am in the process of buying one of those great looking Thundershot Lola T70's. I already have the GT version. What a great car. Congrats also to Orakei Racer, Aquakiwi and you Dave for such a close competition. Sure our Aussie mate Gas41T/Rossco will be right up there too. Final results will reveal all. For my cars thanks for reviving my M6a for final round. I was thinking after qualifying that was the death knell of N22 tyres for cross Tasman competition but perhaps they live for another day. Even my M20 seemed to come alive at end. Those Ultragrips looked munted (sorry John) at start but they lasted another series with a 3-4 year break in the middle. Congads to AquaKiwi, you kept my cars honest and made it a great battle, testament to your persistence and improving skill as a car builder. Well done to the other competitors. It's been a great series, probably good to give it a break to freshen it up, will imagine everyone will be running Thunderslots next time it comes around . Now to Grp 5!
