Vintage (60S) Scalextric - Guide Replacement ?

G'day all,

Might have put this in the wrong topic, but it is a rebuild of sorts !

Hoping for some guidance (ha) on a guide issue on the old Scaley 60s cars. Specifically the C68 Aston Martin & the C69 Ferrari 250. I've bought some replacement pin guides for both of these from Scalextric Car Restorations in the UK (yes, very pricey !), but they are rather too loose & the braids just do not clamp in properly.

I'd like to do a retrofit of a blade guide in these models & I know someone has done this, (Graeme Tout for starters). I'm looking for an explanation of how this has been done (preferably with picts !!) or any other suggestions on getting a decent braid contact going with these cars. (I know they would no longer be "original"....but I swore I would never become a collector !)

cheers

Mal
