Saw something like this for a HO car setup, so i thought i'd have a play with tinkercad and see what turns out

Made up a framework

20211201_145326.thumb.jpg.39a9cfff10e1f0ef0cfd01f78cc6ca61.jpg

Then added a "slide in" background

20211201_064444.thumb.jpg.5bcbde9b6f80ea2b87014dd78ce4ceb8.jpg

Then added some colour

And put it all together

The base is standard, just add different slide in backs for different cars or makes.

Nice!

These types of prints are ideal for the color change between layers technique. So long as each color is on the same layer, and a different layer from the rest, you make sure the last/top layer for each detail is printed in the appropriate color. From the side, you can see thin stripes of colors, but from the front, it looks perfect, and no painting needed. This does require a stock of different colors on hand, though.

True, but all the signage was painted by hand, Different colours at different levels some at the same level, easier to paint them by hand, that was half the fun, if you could call it that  :)

I call painting "not fun at all" which is why I have 50 spools of different color filament and a multi-color printer. ;-)

Show off   :)

Great work,

might have to look at a 3D printer .... one day...

Love your Boss 302... can you tell me a bit about your model - keen to add one to my garage, have a soft spot for this car - AM put a huge amount of effort into getting it out here and tuning it.... pity he wasn't afforded the respect and cohesion from Ford America - it's a sad story, all revealed in the great book of his history that I highly recommend reading.

Being a "red lion" fan, and owner - the book completely turned my opinion of AM around... I now wish I had afforded him greater respect during his racing... what RJ and NB did to him when he launched the 302 at Calder - belittled them both.

It's the Scalextric Moffat Mustang that came out years go, modified front end and air scoop added, as you can see by the photo it has been raced quite a bit

Yes, Gazza - I can see that it's had its share of argy bargy getting in close with competitors in chicanes and corners... maybe even the odd occasional barrier....

I have this model high on my list of intended builds - in my years of spectator sport, Allan and Peter were my greatest attractions. I came in a little late for Norm and never warmed to Bob Jane - simply didn't like the bloke..

I'd like to do the "Trans-Aus" #4 Monaro of Norm... be a great pair to have together. No intention of ever doing Jane's 454 Comaro... the little Boss 302 was always a greater car than that.

Keen to learn of what is currently available in a good body shell for AM's 302... they are a mean looking unit.

thanks again,

frats,

Rosco

For a Moffat Mustang you are probably best just buying a Scalextric Mustang and modifying. I’ve got two of the old white kits but one is being converted to the Moffat car just before he went to Brut 33 so it has larger flares. The other will be a Jim Richards car. I also have started a Pete Geoghegan Mustang.

They both sound great, Vinno.... if you hear of another white kit laying around someplace that would find a very welcome home as a Boss 302 #9 ... I'd be keen to know. I'm probably mainly interested in the body - I would make up my own piano wire/brass chassis.. and source some wheel inserts.

I've done a bit of an upgrade to the display stands

Added some side sections which ad a bit more bling to the display

Different combination of cards can be printed out to give a bit of variety

The blank panels can have photos, box art or posters on them for a specific model or class
