For those not familiar with this small Italian manufacturer, they produce small production runs in 3D print.
Their latest announcement is that they will are working to release the 2023 Ferrari LMP which just won Le Mans

Ever seen one in the real? Mark?

Not quite sure of the meaning of your question John - this new/pending model has only just been announced.
I am not sure of their lead time from CAD to sale

But, no, I don’t own any Area 71 cars.

Yes to both of you.... have you ever seen an example of an Area 71 model up close ie held one, examined one?

I have a Ford Granada which I was going to turn into a XD Falcon a few years ago. They are better than the backyard 3D print so to speak but still require a bit of work. They have a decent chassis, interior and glass.

But definitely need quite a bit of work.

The Ferrari LM is a cool car no doubt.

My experience with Area 71 is limited but I have examined an earlier model Ferrari. It looked out of scale to me which is odd for a 3D print which should be spot on accurate. When I questioned this the reply was somewhat paradoxical, “ accurate 1/32 scale with some adjustments for slotcar application “ ie not exactly to scale, in fact overscale.

The finish, as Vinno says, needed smoothing, lots in fact. And the body was very flexible.
I guess if you didn’t mind the finish I guess it would be okay as a slot body but value for money?....you can decide. It was 70.00 euro back then if I remember correctly.

The all new 499P in both 1/32 and 1/24 scale is ready and here you can see a test build in progress.
The model will be produced only 150 units all individually numbered in 1/32 and 150 in 1/24, and the week of the 25th the first units will start to dispatch to their "early" customers that we take the chance to thank again for their continued support.
Only few units still left and priority is given to our long time customers and of course our distributors. New orders will be progressively processed as they are received.
To reserve one send us a PM on Facebook or an email at: thearea71slotcars@gmail.com

I had heard a while ago that Slot Shop in Sydney had been in discussion with The Area 71 on some Australian Group C cars. As it has been quiet for a while I didn’t give it too much thought. Anyway a few weeks ago I happened to spot the below on the Slot Shop Facebook page. They aren’t cheap at $115.00 each but the detail will be high and they are very light so will make great race cars should you want to. I had to order all three but need to really start looking at some time to get onto them and build them when they arrive. Still a few months away though.

The first car was a surprise as I hadn’t heard it being discussed at all. The Holden HQ GTS 350 was the first one to be announced as an official model. It comes with Minilite wheel inserts, interior, windows and chassis. They also mentioned that the cars will require a lot less work to get them paint ready. It will be fun getting a runner ready to take on one of my Scalextric Moffat Mustangs.

The Ford Falcon XE and Holden Commodore VK were announced a couple of weeks later. These are available either separately or in a 2 pack. The 2 pack being the sensible option as you save $15.00 buying this way assuming you want both. As with the Monaro they both come with interior, windows, chassis and wheel inserts to enable you to produce one of the front runners of the period.

Hi Everybody

No personal experience of The Area 7 products but perhaps those interested could check out Jim Rose's 'Norcal Slot Car Scene preview video on YouTube.

Not sure whether Parts 2 and 3 of Jim's review are available yet.

Thanks Dennis Jim’s videos are very good and give simple explanations. His second video is below on a crash test comparison with a resin printed body and information on the material and the printers used.
