Hi Oldman.

Still hoping to enter again this year so thanks for confirming my car numbers. Still waiting for motors for new cars (1979 Camaro and VL Holden Commodore).

Have No. 17 Sierra (still PG tyres) going with a little more weight and 1970 Camaro now with Slot-it rubber tyres so we will see how these go. Have urethanes on Holden but not sure about 1979 Camaro. Probably Thunderslot. Will not be sending Mini No. 5

My intention is to do up 1979 Camaro in Network9 livery as well so if you are not willing to run 2 No.9's perhaps you can choose either/or. My intention at this stage is to send both.

Trust all is well in WA.

Regards Charles Le Breton (charlesx)

Hi again Oldman.

Was originally thinking of repeating Network 9 livery on 1979 Camaro then deciding which one to run but I see Ron Dickson ran at least 2 liveries, No.2 initially but number appears taken but then No.6. Can I reserve No.6 if it is still available?

Looking at rules again perhaps I have taken too literally. Motor must be in the same position and chassis/body must match but otherwise few restrictions. I had thought more completely standard unless specified.

I see VL Holden too has FC130 motor so previous slimline question is no longer relevant.

More thoughts on narrow car class (although I accept you are not splitting rules at this stage) is motors limited to 22000rpm. Both my narrow cars will be fitted with Thunderslot 21400 FC130.

PS. You can see photos if you search "Camaro Ron Dickson"

Hi Oldman and all.

Have finally made some progress with car development and even conjured up some enthusiasm for 2024 event. Started on selection of cars including old 1970 Camaro, 1979 Camaro, Ford Sierra and VL Holden - all Scalextric.

Progress to date is as follows;

1. Network 9 1970 Camaro as raced 2022-3. Fitted Slot-it rubber tyres. Otherwise only re-tuning required.

2. 1979 Camaro. MJK tyres fitted but still to be glued and trued. Awaiting 25000rpm NSR Shark motor. Plan is to repaint to Ron Dickson No.6 livery.

3. No.17 Ford Sierra as raced last year. A little bit of weight added. Needs to be re-tuned.

4. No.10 1987 VL Holden Commodore. This is another narrow car with unusual design as body sides wrap around chassis. Currently trying to get some body float but will require a lot more work than usual. MJK 4219 tyres fitted, glued and trued but waiting on Thunderslot 21500rpm motor.

Not sure which one(s) I will finally enter so watch this space.

Look forward to other entrants builds.

Regards to all in WA. Charles Le Breton (charlesx)

Charles, the VL needs a better guide like a Slot.it so it is flat with the chassis. Then you can run Slot.it low profile zero grip front tyres and get the front low so it drops the centre of gravity a bit more. I also turned down my rear tyres a bit to drop the back. Also lowered the body posts a little bit.

On my Policar track it goes well with a little weight but I tried it on a mates 1/24 routed track and it needed a little more weight to plant it a bit more.

Thanks Vinno.

I have fitted a Ninco guide but trialled Sideways (shaft too long although I could have shortened) and Slot-it. Used Ninco for no particular reason although I have found sprung version were good in my rally cars during WRC/Oz Rallys.

Have not run yet in new configuration but learned today that motors have arrived in country so should have by end of the week. Intend to install a standard Thunderslot 21500rpm. Car ran beautifully with original motor and MJK 4219 rear tyres but was a bit tippy if pushed. Have now eased body/chassis (as allowed in Bathurst 1000 Proxy rules) so hopefully it handles better now. For such a narrow car it goes really well. Hope to put track down again tomorrow (wood)

Have not shortened body posts to date but did open up chassis front posts as body posts were preventing body float. Also substituted longer screws as Scaly very short. Was looking to grind down front tyres to lower and get better into slot.

I am really in my element tuning up Scaly cars. Ta again. Charles Le Breton (charlesx)

Thanks Oldman.

I was getting worried timewise but parts are now due to arrive this Friday so on track to easily fit your deadline. Building going well. Ta for advice on guide. You must have a very deep slot.

Hi Oldman and all.

Have started re-paint of my red/white Bastos 1979 Camaro Z28 to resemble No.6 Ron Dickson Camaro as best I can.

This is another mainly red and white car but with some blue high lights. Have just noticed it has white numbers on black and a big front spoiler so I may have to take some liberty with final. I think all the 1979 Scaly models have no front spoiler. I may fit if I have time but bigger priority will be BBQ Galore and other decals. The front spoiler can be problematic anyhow based on my experience with 1970 version although I am not aware of any problem with Network 9 car.

In preparation for repaint I sanded as much of original out as I could but there may have been a dip that would have done a better job. I cannot remember what. Final result should be much the same.

See progress photo attached.

Regards Charles Le Breton

Hi Oldman and all.

Next progress photo attached (with my VL Holden in background which fortunately already had Bathurst livery).

A bit of touch-up required but No.6 Ron Dickson Camaro is starting to look the part. Painting was a bit complicated because of the three colours involved. Required several levels of masking. Managed to retain some of original decals which may not be completely prototypical but they give the right impression.

Have managed to find some white No.6 decals kindly provided by Phil K in Hobart for a previous assignment and have a draft nearly completed for other decals required which I will eventually use to produce waterslide decals. Have done little work on car itself except mount MJK tyres and install a little weight. Have an NSR Shark 25000rpm motor to fit when I get to that stage.

Hi Oldman, Shaynus and all.

My cars are almost finished with 2 interiors and decals on one car still to be finished. Hoping to put in post next Friday.

A photo will follow soon.

Pretty happy with all cars but have not tested Network9 car. Have changed rear tyres again and fitted MJK 4231 after discarding the Slot-it rubber tyres I had trialled. Was concerned with tyre wear. Also tried to smooth drive as motor very peaky. The NSR Shark I have fitted to the No.6 1979 Ron Dickson Camaro is much smoother.

Appears there will be at least 2 x VL Holden Commodores in the field so even if not competitive because they are so narrow that should provide a good race within the race.

Hoping to put in post next Friday. Regards Charles Le Breton
