Sports Racer
Weight - not sure????? Or not giving away secrets? Quote May the downforce be with you.
kalbfellp
No sports I simply forgot to put it on the scales,at a guess Iwould say somewhere between 100 and 110 grams. I tried to build it lighter this year to suit the "MAINLAND" tracks. So it set it up to handle well down here and then removed some weight until it was only reasonable on our tracks. Sports Racer
I went the other way and added weight until the car started to complain. Now weighs 108gm. Be interesting to see how it goes on your track. Quote May the downforce be with you.
kalbfellp
108 grams! WOW ! Can't make any other comment until all the cars arrive! TOP SECRET! phil Quote Phil https://www.hobartminiaturecarclub.com/ Email
rick1776
kalbfellb, You running NSR tyres? :dj: Super or Ultras? Because I can tell you that running supers without all that "Italian" oiling/solvent applying crap the night before results in supers have about the same amount of grip as slotit P0's. Should win the burnout comp though cheers rick1776 Quote cheers rick1776
Wet Coast Racer
Nice job on all the DUPR site information there Hoffy, and thanks for taking the time to update it yesterday! It's fascinating to be able to get all the technical information (where provided, I notice a few of the fellas need to 'fess up as to how they put their cars together) ... :aussie:
kalbfellp
rick: Not sure which ones but I have not had to treat them for our tracks but different surfaces might make all the differencs. Just like MJK's don't work very well down here! Now you know why I took awhile to reply, need some advantage! Sports Racer
Damn, guess what tyres I'm running......... Bl**dy Tasmanians. :aussie: As for the weight thing - I notice my car is the heaviest and there's a lot of cars running in the 80 to 90 gram bracket. Going to be a very interesting end to the proxy when the cars start doing the Tassie rounds. Paul Edited April 21, 2007 by Sports Racer Quote May the downforce be with you. Wet Coast Racer
Yeah there is quite a spread in weight, from the 80 gram Daisey Slot 908 to your 110 gram T70. The field weighs a collective 2250 grams, for an average of 93.75 per car. In the Slot.it Summer Shootout Proxy, my own entry is Boxer 24 powered, the heavyweight of that field at 94 grams. :aussie:
Sports Racer
Originally my car was 82 grams but I know the Tassie tracks like a heavy car so I kept adding lead until the Lola started to complain. Didn't know it would make my car the heaviest. Quote May the downforce be with you.
kalbfellp
I did the opposite, set the car up to handle here and then removed weight until the handling started to suffer. I think is will be still too heavy for the faster tracks but at least it is better that last year. Wet Coast Racer
I did the opposite, set the car up to handle here and then removed weight until the handling started to suffer.Interesting comment Phil; in an effort to try and settle my car down (don't normally run rubber tired cars on the home track, so it was sliding all over hell's half acre) I kept on building up weight, and vertically, particularly on the outsides of the chassis pans. It didn't help that I had convinced myself, particularly from observing some of your cars in other series, that greater overall mass was going to work for the best in this proxy series! But once I realized this tuning on my car wasn't making it behave any better - just tippier - I yanked a lot of that off, then placed some of it back more carefully, low across the front end of the sidewinder motorpod, and slapped onto the back of the motor just above the rear axle. Now then, just in case anybody figures that total weight, or where it's placed, may actually be relevant then take a look at the other podium finishers ... :whip:
