rick1776
I call ya bluff and rasise you a Plymouth. Looks like he had both?? I always thought that Swede had the stripes and Dan didnt to tell them apart on the track. I suppose both are right?? slotcarnews
Hiya Rick, The cars changed from race to race. Often the cars had to be repainted because of frequent damage so, in a number of different photos you will see variations of the hood stripes because of this. Also there was frequent movement of the logos on the sides of the cars because of this as well. The cars shown are prototypes and are not the finished cars. Other changes that will be made are white wheels, black helmets for both drivers, and the red stripe on the front of the hood will be darker than it currently is. The guide system is the same, the wireless system is used and the configuration is the longer, broader pick up tab as is used on the Porsche, Peugeot, and other more recent molds. I too would like to see a wire guide system but it's not going to be used on this car. MOPARGREG
Hi guys, I have been eagerly awaiting pics of the #48 car to see if that stripe on the bonnet was to appear. I thought it might & I was right. Rick that stripe is a strange one & I discovered this last year when I was researching for my builds as it ran with a few varients like Dave K said. As to if SCX got it right, here we go. This is what I found from my research so I may be wrong. - Race 1 At Laguna seca neither 42 or 48 had the stripe - Race 2 Lime rock 42 had the stripe & 48 didnt - Race 3 Dan Gurney withdrew from the series & only Savage ran from now so a 1 car team. At Bryar Savage raced the number 48 with no stripe - Race 4 Savage raced nuber 42 with a stripe - Race 5 Bridgehampton Savage race the number 48 with a stripe - Race 6 Not sure - Race 7 Elkart Lake Savage race number 42 with stripe - Race 9 Watkins glen savage raced number 42 with a stripe - Race 11 Riverside last race of the year Gurney returned so they had a 2 car team again. Savage raced 42 with NO stripe & Gurney raced the 48 with a strip of the stripe on the nose & no stripe on the bonnet. The races I have not listed I have no info on. So to sum all that up Savage raced all 11 races with both numbers 42 & 48 both with & without the stripe on both numbered cars. Gurney only raced 3 races in the year. Twice with no stripe & once with just the start of the stripe on the nose & no stripe on the bonnet. Also to confuse a bit more I have seen some historic photos of the Savage 42 car with a much lighter coloured non metallic blue paint, very different to the dark blue. I dont know what race this was. Whats tough about these cars is most of the photos going around is from the historic transam races which are running now in the 2000's. The number 48 car now does have the stripe & gurneys name on the side so it is very confusing as its not accurate. Weather scx release the 48 with or without the stripe on the bonnet Im just happy that a AAR will finally be available in a RTR. Im happy either way. In saying that to answer your question Rick, No I have never seen any material show Dan Gurney raceing the number 48 with that full stripe on the bonnet. Either way thanks SCX for bringing this car to us. Hope that helps Dave K. Edited October 29, 2009 by MOPARDEVIL Quote Thanks Greg
rick1776
Thanks Mopar, I thought that was the case, youre the man. So at best the 48 car did have the full V stripes but Swede was driving the car not Gurney who by them was somewhat pissed with Chrysler to say the least. I wonder if bling will win out over historic accuracy? In any case Dave are you still offereing SCX prizes for the down under proxy. The non podded guys finished ages ago. I think the podded guys will finish the 2009 series sometime in 2010 Hmmm, was there a prize offered for best placed proxy noob in podded and non podded? Cant remember?? If there was I WANT the Cuda Dave. Quote cheers rick1776
MOPARGREG
Thats alright Rick, np. Will be interesting to see the final livery. You would think that back in the 70's they would drive the same number car & livery all season to make it easier for us slotters now in 2009. Terrible they just didnt think ahead Quote Thanks Greg

kennedyrd
I love MOPAR products which are so under represented as models so often. I will be getting one and ensuring it is eligible for our muscle car classes!

MOPARGREG
I love MOPAR Hey hold on there fella Just kidding. You are dead right. For years Mopar related things have always seen to get a back seat. Like playing video games, the mopars were always the worst in the game. I remember like 5 years ago noone wanted 1:1 Aussie valiants & you could pick them up dirt cheap as it wasnt a ford or chev, now good luck. Times they are a changing. A plymouth may get the first release of 2010. Ohyeah. Lenny its inline Edited October 30, 2009 by MOPARDEVIL Quote Thanks Greg
lenny broke
Thanks Mopar. Though not a Chrysler man myself it will be a welcome addition to the classic car fields I'm sure. With all these Classics and the resin Aussie cars available a proxy for those cars must be on sometime in the future. slotcarnews
Yes this is an inline, SCX does not make non-inline configurations. Also SCX cars currently all have half pan interiors. Plucka
Being a huge Mopar fan i cannot wait. DK, i was wondering if you can help me out with some info. We are looking at using the 42B only in SCX nascar next year and i need as much info as i can get with the scx brand. dangermouse
Having just picked up the SCX Aston Martin I hope these 2 are better out of the box than it is - pretty ordinary really, twisted chassis, light not working, problems with the motor.... these are super sweet looking cars just hope they go as well as the look (or even close) If not I guess Jules will be laughing over at Pioneer.. cheers DM

All the SCX Nascar COT's have come with the RX42 except the Toyota COT's which have come with the RX42B motor. The Aero Body Nascars have come with the RX42B. There is only 1 version of the RX42B motor. If a motor has a shorter stack of plates in the armature it is the RX42. I'll email the same info to you Plucka. thanks DaveK Quote Publisher, Slot Car News Carrera of America Marketing Manager

Well, one could also ask if an on-street driver would be wearing a pudding basin helmut and colour co-ordinated clothing, unless he was a severe tragic, but... some things are forgivable.
