Hi All,

I know a lot of people got burnt with SCX digital back in the day but we are working hard to address this now. As the new SCX importer we are working closely with the CEO and Export manager to fill a few gaps in the Advance offering. We will be building a new test track with the Bluetooth interface and running the Smart Race app to put it through its paces. We are looking at other software options as well aiming at club style of racing. I am also looking at 3D printed chassis to retro fit other brands onto the SCX platform.

Any feedback it welcome - good -bad or the ugly.

	Cheers

Hi Guys,

Well I had some SCX gear turn up on Friday!!

But alas I couldn't touch it as it was my darling wife's Birthday, So needles to say there was plenty of trips into the shed that night I snuck to show all the boys what I had!!

Anyway Saturday night after I recovered, I cracked the seal of the first SCX digital set and started the initial set up....... 2.30am I decided to hit the sack!!

Its by no means finished as I still have a few things to ad to it, and I will probably change the lay out a half a dozen times before I am really happy with it. Anyway once I have it all sorted out I will be having some digital racing for anyone that is interested. I am going to look at running the RMS software when it comes to organising the racing, has anyone had any feed back on this software?

Cheers for looking,

The sales assistant told me that it would work on both digi and analog and not knowing any better, stupidly(?), believed him! Well suprise, suprise... it doesn't work with analog and that my fall back position of just removing the chip dosent appear to be the unplug n discard job i had envisioned. Is there an easy conversion for these cars or should i just sell it?

Scx Digital

Howdy guys,

some of you may already know I own both SCX DTM and Rally Digital sets run together, not permanently unfortunately...

Well, about a month ago I sent out a stack of SMS's inviting guys around for 6 car Digi racing.

Mike (tvwino) and I tidied up the storeroom at the back of the building and built the 11.7 mtr layout which looked something like this:

Anyhow there was nine of us shoulder to shoulder with 6 cars up and running.

I plugged in the 3 SXC Digi 18vDC PS's.

There was some surging on the Expert (high speed) setting with the magnets in the low (high grip) posi.

We decided pretty quickly that the Novice setting was more suitable (plus 6 cars @$72 ea was going to hurt my wallett) if they got damaged.

We had numerous races, usually 20 laps, but at the end of the night once the crowd had thinned we bumped that upto 200 laps. No errors were experienced apart from the inbuilt lap counter stutter (more on that another time)

One car had some issues when it got hot, but that was moreso later traced to track connections being bumped.

All in all it was basically a blast. If I performed similar mods to the track power (without the expense of a d3800) as the Scaley digi boys are performing to get full on no surging pace the track would be quite fast.

Recently I pursuaded Tracey to have a drive... She's not really into Slot Cars. She's been spoilt by rides in Lambo's, Ferrari's and GT3R's...

Anyhow, we ran Novice setting with the magnets in the recessed posi, grip was almost the same, just had to lift a tad for each corner and then hold it flat till the next corner.

Trace wasn't inspired by it all either...

So I serviced all the cars, and took the magnets out. I should have done this on the night.

The cars are still very stable on Novice, but now they need to be controlled. The braking point is important, and throttle control is paramount otherwise precious time is wasted sliding onto the straight. Very simlilar to Ninco NC1 performance at 12 volts.

After half an hour I thanked Trace for her patience and was ready to call it a night, to which she replied "can't we do a few more races? I really like this power passer thing" PP is Artin 1/43 AC powered 2 cars per lane that Trace helped me test earlier last year...

So another half hour passed by. To start with I started in front of the start line to place myself almost a lap behind in the outer lane. Working hard switching over to the inner lane ( just a small oval that night) found us both crossing the finish line together in 8 lap races. Thing is Trace was getting faster each race, so for the last few races we ended up starting Trace on P1 and me on P6, that was enough for her to get upto pace and then we raced very closely on either the same lane or differing lanes. Trace would block me on the outer lane if she sensed I was going for a pass round the outside.

We both agreed it was great fun Trace is even looking fwd to joining us guys in the same format next time round.

One thing I have been meaning to say is that std set digital racing can be heaps of fun.

For those will to go the extra mile and modify their system it can be faultless super fast fun. Ofcourse there's voiding warranty issues to think of when going down that track.

In the not too distant future we plan to hold some digital racing nights using the Novice setting and non mag, it'd be great fun, don't you think?
