Ember
 Yeah yeah... I'll admit it. That silver and black R8 would probably be on the "I want" list if it wasn't Carrera. 'Though, they do look stunning. But I'm made of stronger stuff.... Mostly. Apart from which, my allocation for this month is currently on its slow way from Canada. Quote Computers. manimmal
$50!!!! Ged has the M20 McLarens in, and the big surprise to us was the price. Actually no, the big surprise was the orange #5 which i thought wasn't due just yet but oh well I've got mine:) The 73 car is $65 being digital and all. I may be a little biased given i have the David Hobbs car from mg vanquish, but i prefer the Carling livery... Ged didn't get the m3 or the r8 in, I'm in his ear to get even a few in. $50!! can't get over that. Antony
I think I'll be popping down for the orange one Chris. Heavy consumption of that Carling Black label stuff in my youth has created a nasty aversion to that particular livery, looks good, tastes awful. Great cars though!. SlotsNZ
When I get my hands on one, I want to see if I can engineer a new guide mount position, by chopping a bit of plastic just in front of where those wires loop around, insert a bit of plastic sheet between those two forward pointing bracing struts/ stiffeners, and mount the guide JUST forward of those two front screws. That gives some "guide lead" - maybe 1.5cm, and also enables fitment of a full axle system of some kind. They're just not going to run right unless something like that is done to give guide lead, and control over the front axis. I think the wheels are all going to magically fall through my little machine, and re-appear as masters for inserts to fit Slot.it or Sloting plus small hubs....... With CanAm looking more and more possible as a permanent class for the NZPR, it would be a tragedy if we didn't find a semi-standard method to convert these to decent wood racers. manimmal
Even mjk mg vanquish tyres aren't wide enough for the macs!!! the wheel needs to be turned down(in?) a bit to accomadate the smaller step on the vanquish tyre, and then i end up with a tyre about 1-2mm narrow. the mac seems to need the motor and bushes glued in before it will do anything other than rattle and shudder from corner to corner. i braced mine which i understand for many clubs is not legal, but in mine it is just fine and helps get the huge rear wheels on the ground. It was a result of this bracing the lack of grip offered by the standard tyres on ferradore went from apparent to ridiculous. I haven't yet run the car with the mjk's fitted due to home track issues. running on stock tyres at ged's the car handled very well and should be able to compete with fly classics once tuned. on a side note the r8 is a very good car, not just 'good for a carrera', but good generally. Remember how capable the Ferrari 575 is? they seem to have got it right again. Sadly my m3 is a different story in minor modified form (just front and rear tyres, guide spring removed, glue & lube). Once a solid front axle is fitted (like is fitted standard to the r8) the tweaks can begin. on both of these cars in new to carrera form if you loosen the screws off a turn or so the body will rock, even with those big nasty chassis plugs still in place. Ember
on a side note the r8 is a very good car, not just 'good for a carrera', but good generally. OK Mani.... I might just have to give into temptation on an R8 (or better yet, two). If it's a dud I'll blame you. Quote Computers. They'll never catch on. manimmal
New stuff arrived at Geds yesterday afternoon, including the 917/30's, a red hotrod, vettel f1 and two old school winged nascars. The Calsonic r35 is also on her way, we should see that one today (packing error, you get that). Also some 1/24 aston martin dbr9's, a gt4o and corvette grand sport When the last winged dodges came out i missed out as i was too interested in fly classics for my money to stray elsewhere, so I'm really happy to get the #22 daytona (27332). The 917/30's rear wheels have to be seen to be believed, if only they provided grip... Decent decade? wtf? me thinks Carrera spent their licencing budget on Ferrari and couldn't afford good year anymore. A minor issue i know, but i'd prefer my cars to have the right sponsor logos. MOPARGREG
Thats great news the new stockers are here. I have not painted the #22 yet so Ill be buying that one for sure. Its funny, Carrera suprises me again. I ordered this one from overseas as I didnt want to miss out. The Petty vintage stockers came out here late last year/ early this year but in the US they came out in 2008. This time they hit Australia first before the US. Its got me beat, good news though Quote Thanks Greg

dangermouse
Will be really interesting to see how these go. I think Carrera have really improved the performance of their cars - my 512BB and M3 are really smooth running cars. So the classic cobra and the rally cars willl be a good test of their improvements. David

neil
thank God Scaletric's.. SCX... Ninco & some other brands have already off loaded some great GM models....... I like the effort Carrera put into their bodys but it annoys me every time I go to pull a Carrera out of the box..... The tires are perished.... & its hard to find decent replacements.
