No just a paint brush.. :whip2: Hey Dave, was that a two pass route job? Looks very good. I take it you'll be driving from the long straight?... so I ask why you've got those wiggles on the other side of the bridge... won't they be a bugbear? Progress is very quick! Well done again mate. What's the surface to be? Ferrodor again? Dick Quote Cheers, Dick SCMR build thread Woodbrook Valley build thread "A Man's home is his castle, but his garage is his sanctuary!" What's the surface to be? Ferrodor again? Dick Thanks Dick, yes was a 2 pass route and will be driving from the straight anti clock wise. Wiggles are there just for something differant, it was going to be a small sweeper but decided on this i didnt want the straight up and back effect. If i dont like it i can fix easily by turning it into a sweeper. I was thinking of enamel surface but the MJK's would be useless so Ferrodor it is.. Eno the Wonderdog
The wiggles the far side from the driver makes sense - you don't want marshalls driving & get a better view.. Davnic74
All the filling completed and the elevations set, a bit of undercoat tonight, normally i would just apply the Ferrodor straight on the MDF but this time im trying for a different texture, plus i will be using a roller and then brushing the Ferrodor whilst wet. knoath
I have some solvents at work that will neutralise those pesky Ferrodor fumes... and any remaining brain cells for that matter! Davnic74
Hmm alcohol and Ferrodor...what a mix. I do have a charcoal mask I use for work (pretty harsh solvents here) I will give it a go, if it's not raining it will be pushed out onto the driveway to be painted. Ontheflipside
Hi Dave, The "F" has no more nasties than an oil based gloss enamel. Really that is all it is with Micaceous Iron Oxide (little iron mirrors in layers). Your just smelling heaps of mineral turps but that is bad for a lot of people. Looks like just a roll job Dave, did you back brush it? Hey Mel, I know its not overlly dangerous its just with 3 tin lids under 5 i dont need them smelling it all night, ironically with the 1st 2 tracks i built my eldest got croup both times hence the 3rd track i taped up the door. I know it may have been coincedence but im not taking that chance. Your right i have only rolled it but with the final coats i plan to brush it. Ontheflipside
I know it may have been coincedence but im not taking that chance. Good one! I would not paint any where near young ones with any paint unless it states low VOC unless excellent ventilation. The big "D" have an Acrylic Polyurethane version of Fero - WEATHERMAX®HBR MIO Mid Grey Ref # 770-63006. Very light sand (de-nib) with 220+ grit paper or even 400 Wet & Dry (dry) first.
