What Body/Bodies do you have fitted? Body choice, in Both these 1/32 Plafit classes, would seem to be one of the Main arbiters of performance/handling and realistically, although there are a myriad of theoretically usable bodies on 'the List', one could argue that only a Few of them make for a Great handling car. In fact a few of the bodies one would think might make a good choice, may be difficult to find,,...New,..without resorting to ePay,..lol The Carrera bodies, whilst being arguably nicely made are noticeably Much heavier than similar offerings from Scalextric, Ninco and SCX. The Style, weight and Depth of the interiors is also somewhat of an 'Issue' in regard to the Ease with which one can make the chosen body 'Fit'. A quick perusal of some of the HSC Race reports will show the somewhat 'Limited' usage/selection of bodies from the list of available options, with cars like the Maserati MC12, Nissan R390 and the ubiquitous Mosler seemingly to be 'the Gun' bodies in Div 1, with the Corvette and Aston Martin seemingly also the Most popular in Div 2. From experience, the Astons have difficulty in Keeping their Front Splitters and Rear Underbody parts attached in accidents. Things like Wheel Base length, Overall 'effective' Width across the front and rear wheels and especially 'Effective' Guide lead length, let alone the obvious C of G are Important factors to consider when initially choosing a body for these classes. As a 'guide' and from experience in this and other classes, around HSC it could be argued that a 'Short' car IS going to be somewhat of a Handful, compared to something that offers a Longer usable Guide Lead. I guess it could also be 'suggested', that the Longer 'Base Plate', if applicable, could also be a Good choice to start with, as it adds a bit more weight where you want it,..Down Low and over the front of the car! I would also suggest the fitting and use of one of the Carbon Guide tongues, as the standard Plafit unit Can and Does often get Bent in 'Off Piste' excursions !!,.. Anyway,..just some 'thoughts' that May help those unfamiliar with this particular class. Bulsara
Hi Stoo, I have spent the money on the best bits, but I still can't get it to handle right. I just don't have the skills necessary to set it up properly. I am just giving some else a chance to have a go and have fun while they are at it. Out of this I get a properly setup Plafit which I normally would not have. It's a DIV 1 I think. A Ferrari 360GTC. Now about my 1/24 Plafit. Quote Gort, Klaatu barada nikto. My poor Krell! Ratracer
At this stage intend to run all 1/32 classes except for the Plafits (have never ran these but will have a look to see what is involved in the 1/32 classes Shane has the full set 1/32 and 1/24 Plafit). The Plafit classes are currently being pushed by Shane at our club for future consideration so this would be a great intro for those of us attending from Thunderbird Raceway. Hi Ray, I have a fairly poorly prepared Plafit 1/32. You are more than welcome to use this car on the weekend. I am even willing to send it to you early so you have time to fix it. It is as good as new I just don't know how to setup the bloody things. All I require is to benefit from your setup once you are finished with it. Regards, Brian ps. This is a serious offer, I just need a postal address. Hi Bulsara what a generous offer thank you. I will PM my mailing address. I will be talking to Shane tonight to see what is involved with the Plafits but it would be great to have a go with your car and see whats involved with the setup. Guest jazzbell
Hi Stoo, Would you be able to let everyone know what volts we will be racing on. Will it be 13.8 or 12 volts? Reason i'm asking is just about all 32 scale club racers run on 12 volts. If Hornsby is running at 13.8 it gives everyone a heads up to practice at this pace. regards shane a team thunderbird

first corner crash
One question i have is. Is the braid flush with the track or is it recessed? If it is recessed what is the average drop from the track? Quote 4x national champion 6x national runner up. I come second most often but my girlfriends happy. Guest jazzbell
Stoo how are the final rules looking for the scale nationals.(People asking) Please make note for the Slot.it class any one choosing to race the Jag's the wheel splates DO NOT have to be on,this will be added to the rules. Another car will be released by Slot.it before the event that is not on the car listed that would be great to see added is the Toyota 88C. Last thing i have been informed ALL classes will be racing from left to right at this event so no changing of leed wires around. People running in the Plafit classes will have to swap the wires around though as they normally race right to left. Only 4 months to go........ regards shane a team thunderbird

Guest jazzbell
Hi guy's, In regards to entering to race at this years 2011 scale modle nationals at Hornsby slotcars ,NO entry form is required and No money needs to be paid before the event.Just spoke with Hornsby. To enter a class make sure you get there on the day plenty of time before the event starts enter the classes you choose to race and pay your money. Easy as that. So i'll say it again, see you there. regards shane a team thunderbird Edited May 6, 2011 by jazzbell

Guest jazzbell
Hi guy's, I've organised stickers to be made up for this years scale nationals. These are for people to stick on there car boxes,or where you please. A guy here in Adelaide Kevin Wilson from Wilson designs has done a bloody top job on this. The stickers show all the names and logos of the people sponsoring the event plus Horsby slot cars and the date of the event. I'm going to send them off to Hornsby so dont forget to ask James or Wayne when your there. Also i'll send them armchair way as well, so dont forget to ask Jim or Kathy. If anyone not going these directions let me know and i'll send some your way. This is just a form of thanks to the people helping out with prizes for this event. I know it's still a little time away the event ,just trying to keep the thread alive so people will not miss this great event. regards shane a team thunderbird Edited May 11, 2011 by jazzbell

Ratracer
Hi a quick call out to the local Hornsby racers for some advice on tyre selection. Could you advise on the better tyres to run on your tracks particularly the SCX NASCAR and Scalextric cars what are the better performing tyres originals or the MJK's? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Yngwie
Ray, I have only been there 3 times myself (and not competitively) but MJK's were the best of the options available. SCX tyres were slippery and got no traction whatsoever. Cheers John
Ratracer
Thanks Yngowie that will be of great assistance. Did you find the Scaley tyres the same as the SCX? Would also like comments about the NINCO and Slot.it tyres if anyone can advise. regards Ray Quote As Parnelli Jones the Indy 500 winner once said "If you are not out of control you are not going fast enough!" 2017 Plafit FLM Edurance Champion Team Thunderbird
