SlotsNZ
We race 1/32nd scale "hard body" cars at members tracks around Hawkes Bay. All our tracks are routed wooden ones. Most are standard tinned copper braid, and we race without traction magnets. Clubnight is each Thursday, but members regularly call "my place this saturday/sunday" etc for informal get togethers. Look under the NZ section of MEMBERS TRACKS of this site to get more pictures, and some video of our tracks Many of our tracks are wired to run in either direction. Timing on the tracks is computer controlled, and most of our tracks use "TRACKMATE" hardware for race control and timing. MAC's TRACK 4 lane 95 feet (29 metres) CHRIS' NPSR Track 4 Lane - 66 to 77 feet Also used for the NZ Nationals, Enduro racing, and Chris does some racing of Falcon and Group 12 class metal chassis cars MIKE'S Track Built by one Mike, sold to the other Mike and about to be re-located. 3 lanes - 21 metres Mark's Track - That's me 4 lanes, 65 feet - 19.5 metres Viv's Track - 3 lanes - 28 metres Quote Custodian of many used screws (quite a few loose ) * Recovering Lapsed Slot Addict * Companion of other delusional slot addicts * Total kidder

SlotsNZ
Okay, a discussion starter, to follow on from our casual thoughts Thursday night. I've tried to summarise subjects that different folk suggested, but have avoided too much detail. The individuals can build on this appetiser. We had some discussion later in the evening about club classes, rostering, and all sorts of things. It was very positive, but further discussion will undoubtedly throw up differing opinions, preferences and priorities. Craig G. suggested we could have a natter about it next Thursday night at Viv’s as we will be just messing about for the evening, trying out his new track, which doesn’t have the timing set up yet. There was no intent to make any decisions next week, just to kick ideas about. It WOULD be useful for everyone to have a think about which classes of car you really enjoy racing, and which you don’t care so much for – and/or don’t understand. . . . I think we have a lot of grey areas. I guess some clarity of what classes we want to keep going forward would be useful, so people know what cars to invest in, both money and time, what mods to do, etc. A corrected list of cars that obviously fit a given class would be useful, so those who don't follow motor racing, especially with a lack of knowledge of motor racing history, can figure out whether a Group C fits in CanAm, Saloon, or F1....... The same slot version of a car from 2 different makers, could vary immensely in performance and potential, so we need some way to take that into account. Both Mac and I have some “house classes” which we willingly share. There may be other house classes that someone may be willing to set up for use at their track or elsewhere. Also, some track lend themselves better to certain classes than others. Eg My track is short, so GT, or Mac’s Peugeot 406s etc are a real handful unless we really turn down the volts. Conversely, Cartrix or Ninco pre 65 on Viv’s track would provide enough time to brew a good cup of tea while the car trundled down the main straight….. So that is worth thinking about as well. [At this point munter decides we should run both these classes every time we go to Viv's........ and alters his race case to fit a teapot.] Quote Custodian of many used screws (quite a few loose ) * Recovering Lapsed Slot Addict * Companion of other delusional slot addicts * Total kidder

slotmadmac
Can't wait to run on Viv's new track. I think it's a given that hosts will pick classes that suit their tracks best. My 5c on the other stuff: I think we should run the Nationals classes to nationals rules. The more guys in the club with Nats ready cars, the better. Surely. I would drop NASCAR from the club roster. I think the Spirit 406s should run in a class of their own. New tyres. No weight. Rear axle can be braced to motor and chassis trimmed to float. That's it. I would love to see a FLY classics class. Ultragrip classics. Original tyres and bushings. Original motor and pinion. Slot it 19mm/36 tooth gear. Solid front axle. Chassis float. Interior can be trimmed to allow body float but must be 'full interior'. When we meet this week I think we should agree some basic rules for the other existing classes. Anyone else got thoughts? SlotsNZ
Are those the FLY ones or Spirit? ( vague memories of who makes them ) Craig - REALLY good to see someone other than a track owner who is willing to put up a "house class" - awesome mate!! You're better than me at this stuff, but if you are putting them together I'll give you a hand with stuff. There is a private group in Sydney who race house classes, and at each fortnightly meeting, 3 of the members bring ONE house class of 4 cars to club to race. That means that every six weeks or so, a member has to have 4 tuned, similar speed cars ready for club..... then the next 2 meetings, all he has to do is turn up, order their pizza and pasta, and dish out a lot of "horse droppings" at other members. Really cool group !!!!!!! - I got invited to race there one time when I was in town. - (Thanks Geoff, I still remember that night well) Quote Custodian of many used screws (quite a few loose ) * Recovering Lapsed Slot Addict * Companion of other delusional slot addicts * Total kidder
nvmyre
These are the Fly version. SCX and Spirit both make them but although cheaper, are harder to find and not available in the required colours. The Fly is sidewinder by default. I may order one and tune it before shelling out for the lot. I'm hoping Phil doesn't point out something to put me off as they are starting to grow on me and there are some really cool liveries.
