hi ,first time on here and ive got a scalextric classic track with the new sports power base an controlers, Ive been wanting to no if there is a way to add more brakes as my new F1 cars just dont seem to slow up much after i get of the the gas and keep rolling ,most of my slower cars are fine but also some of the high powerd ninco cars are just to fast down the straight and i have to back off 1/2 way down to slow up for the corner ,so you end up with a slower car having a better lap time cos the fast cars just cant use all they have ,thanks for any help

Hi Bradley,

Are you racing Scalextric magnet or non-magnet. Also are they analogue or digital cars. Usually with magnets this will slow down all cars fairly well. If not make sure your pick-ups are clean and well adjusted. They are all geared the same (sidewinders slightly lower - about 3.11/1.0 as opposed to 3/1 for inline) so all being even there should not be too much difference. Another way might be to up-grade tyres to silicone. A1 GP cars come out this way standard. They will then go round corners so much faster. Sanding hubs and tyres then glueing and sanding would also help. Apart from that you may find cars just need a different technique to get the best out of them.

Another possibility is some cars might be digital versions which will only have brakes on digital tracks. If running on ana;logue best to disbale or remove digital wiring and wire normally.

If racing non-magnet less brakes are often good as it evens out the car a lot making it slower going in but less twitchy.

My only experience with Ninco is with classic cars racing non-magnet so cannot help there.

Hope this is of some help.
