Also thanks to Jim, Cam, Rod,Chris and Jason and anyone else for keeping things running through out the weekend. Thanks to Gary for race directing Also thanks to Cam and Chris for helping me with my plafit 32 car, cheers guys. I can safely say that I had a top time at this years nats and would thoroughly recommend that anyone thinking of going to Dapto for a race in the future should do so!!!! Brooksy
Thanks guys, Wow! What a fantastic long weekend I had at Dapto this weekend. The best fun I’ve had in ages. My weekend in general was a great success, fortunate enough in appearing on the podium 4 times. However I’m still looking for that elusive win though. I would like to thank all our generous sponsors for this event. We appreciate the goodies on offer for each of the classes over the weekend. I’m looking forward to building some new cars hopefully for the APC and various club races in the near future. Thank you to all the competitors that participated during this weekend. This includes the Locals, New South Welshmen and Interstaters from South Australia and Queensland. It was great to have a chat to everyone and made my weekend such a memorable one. A big shout out should go to those who worked tiredly behind the scenes to make this event possible. This includes Cameron Neilson, Jim Patterson, Rod Clarke, Chris Wonson, Shane Atkinson, Gary Johnson, and Alec from Xtremetrax for both organising the event, running the weekend whether it be running the races, scrutineering, ordering and delivering lunches, and whatever else behind the scenes I might of missed. Also thanks to those not mentioned that I might have missed out on. Again, thank you to Jim Patterson, Cameron Neilson, Shane Atkinson and Fardin from Armchair Racer for lending out some cars to me to participate in all races this weekend. I appreciate your time and effort in preparing these cars for people like me who have no clue in making great race cars. Also, thanks for Rod and his family for helping me out with accommodation up at Robertson. Love coming there any chance you have a race. You helped make life easier for me this weekend especially on a budget of a typical Uni Student. I look forward to catching up with everyone shortly for some more fun and loughs, hopefully sooner rather than later. Camber
Great weekend of racing, big thanks Garry Johnson for keeping the schedule flowing over the weekend and getting his cattle prod out a few times for the marshalls. Werner for providing fabulous prizes and scruitineering the Sunday cars. Big thanks for prizes from Armchair Racer, Leeman Hobbies, Southern Models, Thunderbird Raceway, Scorpius Wireless, Shane Atkinson and Jim Patterson. Alec for providing the venue and Rod organising the trophies as well as all the locals who helped out. Great to have the interstaters racing, thanks for making the effort to come alonng. Shane did a great job of organising and drumming up the sponsors. I have lots of video to go through, will try and get a movie together next week. Looking forward to next year. Chris1810
My 2 cents. Miniz slower than the 1/32 cars!!!!! Cam - absolute champion racer. With his cars probability not where he would like them to be, still managed three great wins on Sunday. Plus two more wins, podiums and TQ's over the weekend. Jimmy (poppy) - the old boys still has it. Dishing out a a lot car master class in both the nascar classes and div 2. Plus many more podiums. Shane - class driver and a fierce competitor. Any interstate racer to win at Dapto is a testiment to their skills. The not so slow Captain - enough said. Brooksy - didn't have the best toys to play with but showed his driving ability. God help us if he goes to the APC with a decent car or two. Allen - a new man to plafit racing, keep it up and you might infect a few more from your racing club. Thanks to Shane for organising the whole thing, along with Cam , the Captain, and Jim. Thanks for all who travelled. See you next time. Eagle Racer
What an event, what a fantastic weekend. it was my first and not last Model Car Nationals. You do get the pleasure in meeting and racing people from all over the country. One thing is for sure The Dapto guys do know how to put on a race meet. A big thanks to all the organisers and sponsors. To sum up the MCN on the weekend - There was more overtaking moves and action in one weekend then in TEN YEARS in Formula 1. Thanks for racing. Camber
I have neglected to acknowledge the national event "rookies". A big thanks to you guys, hopefully you have taken some good memories and experience from the event. The local rookies went very well, but special mention has to go to Jack Albert, Pierre Bartram & Steve Colin-Thome who didn't know the track and performed very well IMO. I also think Chris Wonson and Jason Brookes odds at the APC this year have shortened up considerably, they will be up at the pointy end thats for sure. axman
Congratulations all that made the podium and travelled to this event and thanks Jason for the race info. Just had a close look at the results and it looks like the Scaleauto's were the race of the weekend.. hard to read but looks like only 4 laps separated the whole field! first corner crash
Followed the results and as i couldn't make it this year there was a sense of disappointment at not being able to compete. Especially when i know i have the odd car that would of been competitive. 12 months is a long time but I am hoping that the interstate contingent will again be strong. A few serious young locals like Mitch and Sammi plus a few of us wiley old folk will make for a very competitive field which is what all racers love. Also really like the simple rules that have been set for this event. Nothing difficult to understand. The scrutineers wouldn't of needed to have a Peter Brock polarizer or a degree in space science to interpret them and neither would the entrants. Great to see Cam and Jimmy do well as they are champion blokes and great competitors. Quote 4x national champion 6x national runner up. I come second most often but my girlfriends happy. Garry J
KarKraft, who are you? Yes, that fat old dude is me, thanks for pointing that out. Race directing for three days is tiring, especially when it's hard sleeping away from home. For those of you who don't know the function of the Race Director is to yell at people to come and marshal. Sorry if I yelled a bit hard at some of you but I have to maintain the cranky old fart persona. Excellent weekend of racing, Cam and Jimmy on their home track are near unbeatable. KarKraft
Garry I was the guy who was walking around taking photos and not racing. I write for SlotCarMAG - live five mins from Xtreme Trax so it seemed natural to do a story on the Nationals for the magazine. Jimmy and Cam are going to help me put it together. Ember also writes for the mag and if you go to the website, you can download a couple of the UK Slot Festival editions for free to get an idea of the content. Normal PDF editions are also quite reasonable. Quote Fairmont Park
