Ratracer
Hi Jan apart from the track builders testing the wiring no running has happened as of last night. It is getting very close though, the bridge has been finished and some painting of the barriers to do from what I can see. Springbok Racer
Ray, Looks good, but as the pits will also have to be on the main straight - the space between the drivers for pit crew to reach cars, seem rather tight. No doubt the Enduro will be the test of that....... Cheers, Jan Quote 'The older I get the faster I was.'
Ratracer
Hi Jan still a lot to sort out. The track is the priority at the moment and everyone has done a fantastic job with the priority to get it right. A little more painting of the barriers to go. The two large timing screens should go in tomorrow over the track. Chris showed me the Gary Johnson timing interface today looks high tech. Everyone are chaffing at the bit to have a run. I think Chris said he has 40 lanes in the raceway now. Cheers, Jan easy fix Jan. a box of tic tacs will be at each driver station, as well as can of MUM deodorant. i think that most tracks its very close company while racing, and thats why i dont have garlic prawns/mexcican/indian before a race. i did one evening visit my mum on way to South city raceways to have one of her home cooked meals (garlic 30% content...) one monday night and rolled up to south city raceways. they track needed resurfacing the next day..... Ratracer
Change in driver line up for Team Thunderbird we will have two changes with two new racers joining our team young Iain and Big Mick. Whilst they have both only recently started club racing they have are fast and consistent racers. Chris R has decided that going on holidays with his wife trumps slot car racing So the team will be:- Ray S -Ratracer Rhyse -The Young Gun Iain -(Still looking for a suitable nickname suggestions welcome) Mick - Big Mick Ray Quote As Parnelli Jones the Indy 500 winner once said "If you are not out of control you are not going fast enough!" 2017 Plafit FLM Edurance Champion Team Thunderbird

Guest jazzbell
Iain -(Still looking for a suitable nickname suggestions welcome) Ray Figjam is a good nickname for this one. Not long to go now. For people wanting to know what the new track is like to drive,Track is very fast and smooth. Lanes a great to drive. Every lane has its own character from the outside lane to the inside lane,my personal lap times are the same on all six lanes. Don't think for a moment easy track to drive as a lot of the locals have already found out. I can't see a real home track advantage as the track is still a virgin really, yes we might be driving on it now but our first race will not be until the green light goes. Can't wait. I'll say it again strong car. regards shane a Team NSR Edited October 16, 2014 by jazzbell
Ratracer
Iain from Team Thunderbird has now picked his race name it is Little Red Fury! I had my first run on the track yesterday it will take some time to come to grips with, but a nice flowing well designed and built track well done to all involved. jphanna
well its been a long week wait for me. I saw my competitors have their first run on the new track, last week, and I was very anxious to finally have a go. I watched seasoned champions struggle in their first few laps. that sent my alarm bells ringing. with 2 hours to go before my first shot, with borrowed cars, and I thought I better get my mind in tune and alert. I had 2 bacon double cheeseburger deluxes, washed down with iced coffee. I was ready.... I will summarise with ONE word.......'the best ever track I have driven on'. (Even better than the king, and the king means a lot to me personally, for my 2 titles) while I was practicing on this track, I forgot that there is a world outside....... BigMick
''I will summarise with ONE word.......'the best ever track I have driven on' That is a long ONE word. But I know what you mean, it is one amazing track. Great work buy the boys you do great work. And to Chris O I heard you lamenting the cost but I think this addition to your raceway will only bring in the punters. You would have to have rocks in your head to not want to drive this baby Mick
Garry J
Greg and I are flying in on the morning of the race. With a bit of luck we'll have a couple of hours to get the hang of the track.
