This seems hardly significant Mick. Noel doesn't need marshals, he never crashes. :-))

I'm not as experienced as some, but I don't believe I've seen a slot car track that didn't have a tricky marshaling point. In fact this track would be easier to marshal than Hornsby IMHO. However, there are many similarities to the Hornsby track, which is a great track BTW.

The other thing is, we have never ran a race in reverse, so I'm not sure we can make any accurate forecast about what it might be like to race in reverse, let alone marshal.

If there are difficulties, we all need to face them, which is the idea of a "neutral track"

Hi Steve,

Everyone pays the entrance fee. It's up to the individual to get the best value from it. :-)

Practice is not limited to Thursday. Anyone not practicing Thursday will get an opportunity Friday.

Thunderbird raceway will be open to the public during the event, but for the most part I expect APC drivers will potentially be able to use 2 other tracks to do basic things like check the car goes or even "warm up" if you feel the need, assuming the Webber track is not available.

The blanket charge means the raceway staff don't have to monitor track use for APC drivers or charge them in 30 minute sessions like the rest of the Public.

We think $30 is a fair and relatively trifling amount for an entrance fee to a three day event.

Hope that helps clarify. :-)

Hi All,

I gather a "bunch of people" have got together to play an April fools joke on us saying the "cost per race" is $30!

As if anyone would say that without downloading the nomination form and reading it!

That's just hilarious! Even going to the trouble of ringing Shane (who has nothing to do with the APC)! The nomination form says to contact me or the Raceway. :D

The nomination fee is $30 for the entire 4 day event and includes all practice! The prices for each individual and team race are the same as last year.

Nice one guys. You cheeky pranksters you - you know who you are!

I need someone to put my ribs back together!

;)

Hi All, glad a couple of people are talking about this event!

It appears it has fallen to me be Race Director in lieu of Gary. Everyone else took one step back and I said "what?".

Gary has agreed to provide what help he can, but wont be at the event. Unfortunately this means I can't race.

I believe preparations are on schedule.

Last I heard we don't have many "official" entries. I hope this doesn't mean having to apply late fees. Not a cheery way to greet people as they come through the door! It also makes it harder to prepare.

It's 43 days till the Thursday practice that kicks off the event. Hope to see as many familiar faces (and new) as possible.

G'day Robbo , sorry that you won't be racing . Dapto guys are happy to help out over weekend if you need any help with anything. Do you have many locals involved in the racing, in all classes? Hopefully they join in the fun . APC's are always a great weekend. Great racing with fantastic atmosphere. If you think you would like to have a go but not sure ? I would recommend it, as it's awesome fun and racing is done in the right spirit . Looking forward to the event and experience of Thunderbirds race centre. Plus the fun at the pub with mates from around the country.

Cheers guys. Guess I'll have to look forward to the next one to have a drive.

Any assistance welcome.

I think we are ok generally, with local guys stepping up to help as well. I'm expecting at least 10 SA drivers, but not in all events.

Please keep the positive chat going, and comment on the event in facebook if you haven't already.

Well Done for stepping up and taking on the race director roll im sure you will do a great job!

cant wait to get across to Adelaide and run a few of my old Plafit Cars and a couple of new ones and learn a new track

if Andrew and Peter from slot fest are an example of the local drivers i think i better lift my game as those guys were fast on a new track so give them a home track environment and i'm sure they will be hard to beat

as well as the usual suspects like Cam and Simon who are always fast and consistent

and i do enjoy racing against Pagey as he goes alright and isnt a bad bloke as well !! :P

anyhow Cant wait as it will be a great event .

It always is :D

Looking forward to catching up with Steve , need to get some of your mates to come with you ding . Dapto boys are the most consistent club for travel , we will have again 9 from our club , with Ben and Peire under our umbrella also . Make the effort boys and come out for a great weekend of fun and plenty of laughs . 🤓😂😂😂 .

G'day Pagey,

you will have to put up with 5 of us Banana Benders. Andrew, Simon, Jack, John and myself, we are all staying at the Mawson Lakes Hotel so that should prove to be a HOOT.

Still working on my cars, and can't wait to step foot in Adelaide. Really looking forward to this APC, my first one interstate.

See you all soon.

Cheers

That sounds fantastic, a real interstate meet . Come on locals get in and have a go it's great fun . Last year Werner introduced a second level trophy system on some races for first driver who had never won at an Aust title before . It's a great incentive for us mid pack drivers who find it next to impossible to get a podium with the fast guys . So have a go , you might surprise yourself and some of the mid pack races are the best anyway.

Glad you can make it Werner 😳😂 are any of your Japanese friends racing this year ?

With the Nsw , Vics and Qlders at the one drinking hole I might stand a chance this year . 😜😂😂🍺🍺🍺🍺🎉

Cheers Pagey 🤓

I know that I have done my nomination and have been told by others at club that they have as well . Can you please put names up of the nominations? If you need help that would make it possible to double check and chase up members at this end . But I know our numbers haven't changed .
