Switching lead wires is a pain when your wires are different lengths and routed in the chassis.

There goes a day of precious preparation time - removing motors from 30 cars unsoldering the wires from the motors turning them over and resoldering the wires and reinstalling the motor......

All my cars have a small piece of circuit board somewhere behind the front axle with the lead wires in two pieces each side.

Lets me set the front half of the wires so that guide returns to centre and I can change the wires from the motor at the circuit board very easily as they're side by side.

Also saves on lead wire as the back half doesn't move, so it never wears out.

.

Cheers,

Garry J

Sorry guys for having a whinge. We do not race at tracks like Hornsby that are wired in reverse so we have not had to change direction. Thanks Jim and Gary for your input.

All of our cars have been build with the positive wire coming from the rear of the motor to the right hand side of the guide and the negative from the front of the motor to the left of the guide. With the wire cut to length the positive wire is not long enough to stretch to the left hand side of the guide.

I like your idea Gary of having a joining block behind the front axle to allow for the polarity to be easily reversed and as you suggested it is only the front section of the wires that fail due to constant movement.

That's some serious detailing skills there...

I'm totally jealous.
