What a beggar Kevan!
I am still waiting for someone to announce they have settled on a decent replacement for the Sideways hi-grip, Slot.it N series, and original NSR tyres.

Having been setting up my first (yes, sigh my first) Thunderslot this week, I note that the little tyres on the McLaren aren’t bad, and 3 hours slowly revolving on a roller with conditioner, has brought them on quite well.

But we need more sizes

Hi Mark, (et al) Have you tried the Slot-it G25's ???,..........we have been using them as a "spec" tire for a year now with good results, both on our large Policar track, and on many of our local wood tracks, ..they seem to perform somewhere between the original NSR super and ultras, with better wear characteristics.

They certainly work best on "air" hubs with foam inserts installed, trued up and treated.,...and come in 2 sizes (so far),...19.5 x 10, and, 20.0 x 11/3,............my best results have been with the 19.5 x 10.

Cheers

That’s weird Chris. Yes I tried G25 as soon as they came out, as I was still the distributor at that point - but found them unsuitable. I had high hopes, knowing N series were going to be deleted. I am guessing they respond a lot better where you have some texture to grab onto - eg Policar or Ninco tracks in the major  Europe market
 - Locally we are all gloss wood surfaces, so I can’t speak to plastic track performance
I find them like a poor cousin to P6. I know others around NZ who tried, have also discarded

Main issues being
- Shore too high at the start point - just too hard
- Hideous to true - They tend to ball up, and are hard to recover if you start to overheat them
- They take so much longer to true than most anything
- Not very good grip, treated or not

I/we have trued well over 100 pr. at the shop with no issues,.....good grip on Policar (for which they were created) and also on wood,........ your mileage may vary, and clearly does :D

I very recently sent a few  pr of glued/trued/treated G25's  on air wheels with foam, to an Aussie racer (will get the mane of his club), who races on wood, and,  he reported back that the tires were very good,....he won and set a track record with them.

Well have decided on this car for my entry in the GT3 proxy races over the pond, first time in such exalted company only 27 places and so far 36 entries so be difficult to get past the shoot out at my first attempt but as always willing to give anything a go .

The car is similar to my Thunderslot as far as mechanicals and motor are concerned, so be interesting to see if i can still build something decent in my twilight years.

Nice one Peter, car looks good, hopefully you can crack it into the top 27.

I've settled on the Sideways Lamborghini with slotit SW 1mm o/set pod. 25k NSR, Slotit gearing 11/34. Sideways air rims NSR supergrips 20 x 11 on rear, glued/trued

glued/trued sideways fronts, stock guide, lexan interior. Fingers crossed
