Peter Gunn
Is About to commence organised by BRUMOS RSR in the USA, as we have a decline in OZ proxy racing and i wanted something to do i decided to give it a go, car is a highly modified Thunderslot Lola T70, has hard chassis, wood guide, Staffs 8,5 wheels front and 10mm on the rear , running with a full spring set, titanium axles, gears are slot it sidewinder 11 x 34, cranham ballraced pod, Pirana 25k ballrace motor , running on NSR classic tyres back and slot it c1 on the front all trued and glued, weight centre and up front. No idea how it will compete have run it on a wood track here and it ain't slow, perhaps at some date in the future a couple of the proxies i loved so much down under will reapear once again in the land of OZ, or someone might fancy a Le Mans proxy AUSSIE style
Brumos RSR
Looks GREAT!!! Similar setups in the past won the Can Am Proxy back to back years if it helps. If it’s easy to drive and sticks like I expect, it should be a top performer. I’m leaning towards another car as a driver had trouble on my annual routed track testing with my Lola. I can’t wait for the fun to begin. Edited August 9, 2023 by Brumos RSR
Pepsi62
Just posted my Lola T70 to Sir Brumos for this proxy. No pics unfortunately but it's the Blue #8 car with #62 roundels stuck on, couldn't find my small Aussie flag transfers to add to it Predator 22.5K BB motor, slot it 11/34 gearing, Stock chassis and pod, Staffs Silver 5 spoke wheels 15.8 front shod with Slot it zero grips, 15 x 10 rear shod with Thunderslot TS04 all glued/trued. It handles great, sticks well around my twisty home timber track plus it's easy to drive. When I tested the 4 candidates for this proxy it was pretty close but the Lola was quickest over 25 laps average of 4:52 best lap 4:36 ( Record is 4.16 Elva) Slotit GT40 with shark 20k and NSR supergrips rears 4:64 ave 4:49 best lap, this ran in the Ford Vs Ferrari proxy, I just swapped the 36t spur to a 34T NSR 917K stock setup with supergrip rears 4:71 ave 4:56 best lap Slot it 512M with new untrued TS04 on rear 4:75 ave 4:55 best lap, probably could have glued/trued the rears and got this one right on the money too. hopefully it's competitive, going to be some bigger horsepowered rides so we will see how it fares
Brumos RSR
Big Pepsi, I’m looking forward to receiving your car as well. I finished in the top 5 with a Shark22 last year so never say never. I feel this will be a close proxy and any builder can take it. I’m hoping for 10 different winners and mixed podiums.
charlesx
Hi BRUMOS. I may be too late for this year but I have several cars I could enter depending on rules. Could probably get in post by end of week or Monday at latest if you can provide required information. Would be great to get into another USA proxy as have npot entered one since VRAA finished (Vintage Race Across America). PS. Have not been able to find on AUSLOT. Any car I will enter will probably be pretty standard. I presume racing on wood as there is a lot of plastic racing in USA. PS.2. Like Peter Gunn I am missing Aussie proxies and none on in NZ at moment. Regards Charles Le Breton (charlesx). Brumos RSR
Charles, we have a waiting list you would be second on the list. If you’re ok you can send me a car that I will hold in case we have a withdrawal. We have had 2 this week. Going forward I will post proxies where I’m steward here for you all. https://www.hrwforum.com/forum/proxy-racing/-2023-24-le-mans-proxy
charlesx
Hi BRUMOS. Thanks for link to proxy. I will have a look at the rules. I would probably send an NSR Porsche 917 or Thunderslot Lola GT if eligible. Both would be fairly standard but that will depend on your rules. No idea what postage cost to the USA is today as last VRAA was 2016 well before Covid. I will let you know by Friday this week whether I intend to enter. I presume you have pencilled in my entry. Regards Charles Le Breton
charlesx
Hi again Brumos. Rules look fine. Note 40$us entry. Presume that includes postage home. If on wait list do I still need to pay by 15th August. If so presume would be refunded if car not raced. Happy for some retention for return postage. If bad breakdown clearly o/s car could not continue. One small problem. My Porsche has broken rear suspension (think that is what it is). Non-operational. Do I need to replace/fix. I can probably do so if required as do not think part can be purchased in NZ if even available. Regards Charles Le Breton (charlesx)
Brumos RSR
40.00 includes return postage of all cars. When you say broken suspension you don’t mean the pod correct? If it’s just the plastic decorative rods you are referring on the back of he car, you remove them or send as is. And yes, I added you to the list this morning. charlesx
Ta Brumos. I will probably remove as over half gone (already done). It will be the NSR Classic "Piper White" Porsche 917/30 then with original 20000rpm motor. The grandkids favourite so there may be some complaints. Even the 2 year old can manage (at reduced voltage) so should be easy to drive. Currently No.3 so I presume I will have to change. Will have a look at your entry list soon to see what is available but otherwise please say what you want. Will just put some roundels on and new numbers over top if required. A little work to do but manly new braids as still has originals even though I have had for 5-6 years and the GKS have thrashed. It is well run in but still goes well by my standards. charlesx
Hi BRUMOS. Can I have No.66 or No.99. Could not see either of these in your list of entries but not all had numbers. Regards Charles Le Breton (charlesx).
charlesx
Hi BRUMOS RSR. Still waiting for advice re number but ready to stick on car (66 or 99). Entry paid via Paypal to remlap_3@yahoo.com as requested. Clearly I did not get posted as stated previously but want to post no later than this Friday. If I do not hear from you soon I can leave you to attach numbers but I would prefer to attach myself as they probably need clear coat. Look forward to reply. My preference is probably 66. Have checked numbers again today and both appear to be available. charlesx
Hi all. I am having trouble contacting BRUMOS RSR. HRW for some reason will not recognise my password but I have been a member for several years. If somebody can pass my message on nthat would be great. Thanking whoever. Brumos RSR
I sent you a PM here…. You will be good to go with either number. Edited August 14, 2023 by Brumos RSR
charlesx
Hi BRUMOS RSR. My green David Piper NSR Porsche No.66 is on its way by NZ Post to Tony Palmer, Missouri, USA. Tracking number CC 452 053 044 NZ. In my hurry I forgot to put tape over body screws and add screw instructions. Each of the 3 body screws is loosened 1/2 a turn. Pod screws are all taped over and only loosened very slightly but they should not need to be touched. Name on bottom of car is CLB (a bit faint as I forgot to refresh) plus 2015 as the year I bought car. Numbers are quite legible but I mucked up a bit adding clearcoat with a brush so a bit smudged. Should have masked and sprayed. Hope it arrives OK. See I am now only one off actually racing so in with a chance. Please let me know when car arrives. Brumos RSR
Great looking car ! I will take care of the instructions and tape over the screws.
charlesx
Hi BRUMOS RSR. Thanks for that. I see car has almost a month to get to scrutineering so it is in with a chance. Pretty basic entry still with original tyres but I thought I better replace braids. I did not even bother to re-dress tyres as with 12 rounds they would soon deteriorate again. Regards Charles. charlesx
Hi BRUMODS RSR. Great to see my car has made it to the starting grid. Here is hoping it arrives ok and runs reliably. Looking forward to watching the various rounds. Regards Charles Le Breton (charlesx)
charlesx
Hi again BRUMOS RSR. Off topic but I thought your Camaro was going pretty well. Perhaps not as easy to drive as mine. No idea really just a possibility. Note it is doing full 40 laps and fastest lap up there. You are still in with a chance to get to top 4 so anything is possible. Any news re Lemans Proxy. Has my or other cars arrived yet. Perhaps an up-date is due. More photos of tracks that will be used would also be great. I have still not been able to log into HRW although I have been member for ages. Probably just mucked up my password. When are you hoping to start Lemans Proxy? (late arrivals accepted). Regards Charles Le Breton (charlesx)
Brumos RSR
Your car arrived today…. I will attempt to dig up photos of some of the tracks. I will not open cars until I have #s and I’ve decided which car I’m shipping with the other builders.
charlesx
Hi BRUMOS RSR. Looks like just about all the cars have arrived. When are you hoping to kick proxy off? Looking forward to it. Thanks for extra photos of tracks. I have posted them on our local site so everybody can see where I will be racing. Hope this is OK. Regards Charles Le Breton (charlesx) Edited September 16, 2023 by charlesx
Brumos RSR
The more exposure he merrier, please feel free to paste the reports there and links. I hope that here will be video of most tracks. The start will be delayed as I need to call an audible due to slight change of plans. That said, I maybe able to pull off 2 local races to start the proxy which will put us on schedule or slightly ahead.
charlesx
Hi again BRUMIOS RSR. I will do my best but mainly for our locals. I have still not been able to get back onto HRW despite several attempts. Appears there may be only one car still to arrive but perhaps it is local like your own. Next step would be a photo of field if you can manage. Proxies in New Zealand have disappeared since the start of Covid and even Australia is fairly quiet so your promotion is much appreciated. Brumos RSR
I will photo all the cars and have the builders share their specs. I’m going to see 2 of the proxy tracks this week and I hope to have a race done 27th and 7th then ship the cars east. You guys are getting all the inside information here. charlesx
Thanks BRUMOS RSR. You are on the ball. One of the most enjoyable things about proxies are the photos. reports and feedback. Keep up the good work. Regards Charles Le Breton (charlesx)
