There is a wide variety of models that is used in our Carrera GT3 racing. There is McLarens,Audis,Ford Mustangs,Corvettes,Porsches,Lamborghinis,Mercedes,BMW.The McLaren and Audi that my daughter and I use are consistently the quickest cars and the Ferrari and Mercedes that we have as backup are nearly as quick. It really comes down to personal preference but from what I have found testing various different models is that the lower sleeker models like the McLaren,Ferrari,Corvette and Lamborghini are consistently quick and handle better than the bulkier BMW and Mustangs.

thanks Tony, I thought the Mclaren would be a contender! Are they releasing a Corvette C8r anytime soon? Might get a couple as they a lot cheaper than NSR :)

No problems,I don’t know if Carrera is releasing a Corvette C8r but the current Corvette is definitely a contender to be one of the quickest cars. All we are allowed to do as far as tuning goes is to change the stock Carrera tyres to MJK,shave the chassis slightly to allow for body float and sanding of axles to make sure there is no drag in the bearings. Not allowed to add weight and only standard magnets, motors and gear ratio.

sounds like a relatively easy setup, I'll have to get one. Is the track magna braid or tinned copper?

Yes it is an easy setup basically straight out of the box with minimal tuning so as to keep costs down and leave it to driver ability rather than who has the deepest pockets. The track is Magna braid.Later in the year we will be racing the new Carrera Nascars on a soon to be built 6 lane oval track.

Today was Round 11 of the Carrera GT3 Championship and there was nine entries.Hayley top qualified with a new qualifying record of 7.8725 seconds from Plucka 8.0541 and Tony running in a new motor with 8.3823.The midfield qualifying was really tight with only hundredths of a second separating Dave 8.5287,Leah 8.5624 and Ben 8.5721.Tommy was next with 8.7224,Luke 9.4025 and Noel 9.4547.With two byes to allow for marshals it meant that race positions were constantly changing and would prove decisive in the final placing.Dave and Plucka took off to an early lead whilst Hayley took her two byes to start off.Tommy was running an early third from Leah and Tony until he struck trouble with the tight white and red lanes and started dropping down the order.Dave dropped way down the order after after his two byes and never really recovered. The close midfield battle that seemed promising after qualifying never really eventuated as Ben had a shocking run.Hayley was charging up the field whilst Plucka set the pace and with him sitting out the last two brackets with his two byes the challenge was set to catch his total with both Hayley and Tony passing him in the last bracket with Hayley winning with a new record of 164 laps from Tony on 155 and Pluck 154.Dave was next with 152 from Leah 149.Tommy was next with 142,crashing too often and ruining a better result.Luke fell away the last half of the race to being just being beaten by Tommy also on 142 Ben on 139 and Noel 127.

Today saw the running of the final round in the current series of NSR Fiat Abarth and GT3 and there were 5 entries in each class. The Fiats we’re up first and qualifying saw Dave TQ with 8.6408 seconds from Hayley 8.7365,Fred 8.9699,Tony 9.0268 and Leah 9.3107.Dave skipped away to a handy lead early on but Tony started to reel him back in with Hayley hanging in there.Leah and Fred were having their own battle.Dave went on to win with 156 laps from Tony 152 and Hayley 150.Leah was next with 139 and Fred 135.GT3 qualifying was very close with Tony getting the TQ with 7.8294 from Plucka 7.9397,Dave not far behind on 7.9652 and Leah had a PB with 8.0075 and Fred with 8.9986.With qualifying so close it promised a close race which unfortunately did not eventuate as Plucka and Dave throwing it away with too many deslots which allowed Leah and Tony to take advantage of the chaos.Tony ended up with an easy win with a new record of 163 laps well ahead of Dave on 153 .Although despite the huge margin there was some great side by side racing at times between Tony and Dave.Leah rounded out the final podium position one lap behind Dave with 152 10 laps ahead of Plucka on 142 and Fred on 129
