Gear Modulus Compatibility

I am trying to come up with various gear ratio options but am having trouble finding the same modulus input / output gears.

 

Only exploring inline options only at the moment.

 

Have a couple of ideas.

 

Pinion / Crown

The crown is limited to 20T only (2mm axle) at the moment but the pinion can alter between 8T, 9T & 11T (1mm shaft)

Problem is the 20T & 8T can be 0.5M but the 9T & 11T are 0.3M.

 

Beveled

Second option is beveled gears offer more variety,  with output gears in the ranges of 15T, 16T & 18T all 0.5M while 20T is available in 0.3M & 0.4M. All 2mm axle.

The input gears 9T & 11T in 0.3M and an 8T in 0.5M. (all 1mm shaft).

 

Although the sizing don't really matter for my question it gives a bit of background.

 

The question is has anyone played around with the different modulus and can you get a good mesh by offsetting the gears slightly?

Offsetting a AW or SW  spur gear is not possible, the relation of pinion height to gear height has no effect on mesh.

You can offset Contrates / Crown Gears, but you have to have a gear that is made offset like the S&K 0.5mm offset to get the best mesh.

S&K are the only manf of offset contrates, but having said that you can get the Voki contrate to run slightly offset.
