ZeGas
Some very very sad news. Lloyds #1 car, was repaired and tyres sorted, tested, and all was humming along, so then came the TT, at lap 12 the damned pinion came loose again, I can't believe it, there was a tonne of epoxy around but that broke away from the shaft. I'm really sorry Lloyd but I will have to retire the Mazda. Fastest time was 9.161 this was up from the previous 9.447 but I think it had more. Â Some a little bit better news. Admiral Nelsons #87 car was also repaired and tested, I had to replace the pinion with a 9T 0.5M instead of his original 8T 0.4M as that was all I had access to, but it got it running. The mesh isn't the greatest when turning the wheels by hand but it drives fine from the motor end, unfortunately, and I'm sorry Admiral, it is a bit slower due to the gear ratio. Another quirk is it did not like one of the crossovers, forever popping out, I forgot to measure but I think it might be a shallow guide, I'll try to remember to measure tonight. TT times recorded Best 9.595 Median 10.259 Average 11.504 These have been added to the field data now. charlesx
Hi Grant. Pinions are normally a push fit or soldered. Pity you cannot fix but you have obviously done what you can. Regards Charles Le Breton PS. Of only passing interest but for the first 10 years I raced slot cars I used to thread as many pieces of string through pinion and press fit. Never had one fail. I did not own a soldering iron or had to heat up in open fire.

ZeGas
I'll be posting them off today Charles. I will get in touch with Shaynus. C Le B PS. Have never seen track in person but looks reasonably straight forward if I can arrange and am available. I will be in Perth for school hols. charlesx
Hi Grant Zegas and Shaynus. charlesx
Hi Zegas and all. Looking forward to next round. I may even be there as I will be visiting grandkids in Perth. Not sure whether cars have arrived yet but hope they arrive safely. Must look to see if an expected timeline was outlined but with trips to Austria, Germany then back to Lithgow this would have been hard to predict. ZeGas
Cars have arrived in WA all safe and sound. No real timeframe set, as you said it is hard with postage and I had some unavoidable delays to kick it all off. Germany round has been cancelled, only Austria and then back to NSW for last round. charlesx
Hi Grant/Zegas. Pity about Germany. Is it possible to arrange an alternative venue? Going all that way for one round must be expensive. If not in Europe what about Melbourne or Adelaide. They both used to have keen proxy racers there. I might have also suggested Canberra but Sports Racer (Aussie Touring Car Proxy) has not been heard from for a while. Too busy with work I think. Another WA track might be Syd's but I do not think he is running his open nights there now. Also a Ferradore track so very hard on tyres. Another thought is Armchair Raceway where you might be able to run proxy yourself. Would otherwise would have suggested NZ but nobody is interested in running proxies here now. Covid ruined what used to be a healthy proxy environment. Regards Charles Le Breton (charlesx)

Slot Shop is the only Sydney shop that could possibly host a round but they would likely charge for venue rental. I could ask around some of the Sydney home tracks but not many are on forums any more unfortunately. There are some tracks in the Illawarra where I am but these are 1/24 scale tracks and use tyre compound. I have tried my 1/32 cars on them and they don’t work, too much grip. I will come back to you. charlesx
Hi again Vinno. Agree running on braided 1/24th metal car tracks not on. We ran the NZ RTR Nats at Porirua, Wellington track several times but they had to do a major cleaning job. While track can be cleaned getting glue completely out of braid is just about impossible. Remember also trying Henderson Auckland track many years ago after thorough clean but this was only partly successful. Made several cars go up in smoke although managed to resurrect most once back home. Cars are still going but would certainly not repeat the exercise. Regards Charles Le Breton (charlesx). PS. If you have a viable suggestion for Zegas/Grant please let him know. Edited September 12, 2025 by charlesx

I am in the process of building a two lane track but it is going to be a couple of months realistically before I have it ready. If it is a while I could run it but it’s been about 20 years since I last hosted a proxy round. The track has 100mm lane spacing so I can run 1/24 scale cars but should be ok with the 1/43 cars. ZeGas
I think leave it for this year, it is the first one run and (my fault) things have not gone as smoothly as I had hoped. There are still 3 rounds to go and that should be fine for this year considering it was not initially going to be a series. If there is interest next year I'll try to promote it more and maybe get some more tracks on board. 2 Quote Cheers Grant . 2025 - Mad Man Motoring (Triple M) Proxy - Group 5 - 1:32 & 1:43 https://auslot.com/forums/index.php?/topic/37451-2025-mad-man-motoring-triple-m-proxy-group-5-132-143/ __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ If life gives you lemons, take them, free s#!t is cool. Brumos RSR
Check in with Roadrunners of  Elngand, he’s done an excellent job organizing  UK based proxies,  and if the cars are that close it may be an option for a race or two.  Additionally, you may pick up a few participants for next year in the process as the clubs are very active.
ZeGas
Last weekend saw the running of Race 2 at Peel Slot Car Club in Western Australia. All cars bar two were run due to some damage during freight. These cars only require some minor repairs and in fairness to the competition will be run once reparied. Aren't we a nice bunch Thanks to Shaynus for offering to repair. charlesx
Hi Zegas. I am back home now after a month in Perth but unfortunately missed running of R2. Did attend club meeting at Peel Slot Car Club last Friday night though and had a ball. 16 of us (4 x 4 teams) had a fuel race which was great fun. I had never done one before. Was great to try a track where I have previously run 3 proxies (2022-2024). Hope your daughter is fully recovered.
