fiery1
Hi all and thank you in advance I am thinking of resin printing windows to go with my bodies,.I use eSUN water washable. Has anyone used clear resins for windows and do they come out clear? Thank you Fred
ZeGas
very tricky. clear resin will frost when cleaned, I have tried IPA cleaning resin, not water washable though, I imagine water would be just as bad. Reason being is that the clean clears out the microscopic pits in the print so light does not go straight through, it bounces all over the place. Its not all bad news though, after much trial and error I have a suitable solution, still will not be crystal but you can see details inside. Ignore the frosting and clean up the print, including sanding if you like, I use 1200 grit to get rid of any blemishes, then a polish with toothpaste (cheap) or car cutting compound (not so cheap). Once you are happy with it clean in water with microfibre cloth. To fill the micro pits and make it pretty damn clear I use invisible nail polish. the one in front of me is Sally Hansen Hards As Nails Xtreme Wear - colour 109. Brush on a very fine layer and leave as flat as you can to dry. brush streaks should disappear and the windows will clear up. Garry J
If you can print the window you can print a mold and vacuum form them in polycarbonate. Reduce the print size by the thickness of the material, 0.375mm lexan will be rigid at window size and crystal clear. Wobble
If you don't have a vac forming machine it's not too hard to make your own. Scroll down a bit in this thread and it might give you a few ideas. Garry, cookie issues seem to be the cause of many issues here. i have begun using a discreet browser called DuckDuckGo, - yeah, weird name, but I can now do all things here again 1 Quote Custodian of many used screws (quite a few loose ) * Recovering Lapsed Slot Addict * Companion of other delusional slot addicts * Total kidder
