Hi All

The forum has had a number of issues for some time now. These have caused problems with connectivity and features not being available. We have been able to make some changes to the configuration which have improved a lot of the issues. This came about as we were set up on http and the host changed to https which we were not aware of. Now adjustments have been made there seems to be a lot more stability.

We were considering shutting down the forum due to the lack of use but have decided to try one more year of hosting and see how it goes. The running costs amount to almost $500.00 per year which makes it difficult to keep operating. It is no longer a viable place to get advertising due to the lack of use so we can’t chase retailers either.

We have had help from some members at times which is appreciated but we will have to make a decision on how the place runs. We would like to keep it operational but let’s see how we go.

One issue we have had is with spammers joining which they try daily. I had to lock down validating to admin approval only as they always find ways around it but with some help we can have this process improved with myself and Gazza retired from work.

Thanks to all the long term users who have contributed knowledge and information over the years we wouldn’t be here at all without you.

Thank you Vince. The contribution to slot racing you have made through the forum is huge.

its been sad to see the decline in part due to hosting issues.

I will copy your post to our club and NZ slot racer FB groups, and encourage folk to check in the forum

Seems to be the norm now in a few forums there are not the venue's contributors and enthusiasts left as there once were , i have tried putting articles out but there is very little interest and nearly no input when you try to start a discussion , not only Auslot but Slotforum as well.

I am competing in the GT3 proxy over the pond and started a discussion with pictures of this event in Slotforum on the events proxy tag but very little interest and what there is , is from the old faithful , but as the series goes on i will post the results and things of interest what with 28 rapid cars this event is worth keeping tabs on.

I've been following that one on the quiet, but as I am not involved I haven't commented.

I think that may be the case with a few threads, if you look at the views in particular your GT3 proxy there have been over 1200 visits the Canam over 1400 views, so the interest is still there.

I think Facistbook may have taken over a bit there, personally I hate the thing and never use it.

I will never use FB in preference to forums.......once you finish wading through the ads, then get to the group you're interested in....you'll never find the post that was there last week anyway....as it's gone too far down the list.

I get that it's "free".......but you pay in many other ways !

Thanks to everyone who keeps this forum running. Facebook works well in some ways, but it simply doesn't provide an archival resource like this forum.  I am not a dyed-in-the-wool slot car fanatic, having only recently gotten back into the hobby which I enjoyed for a relatively short time as a lad.  So, I greatly appreciate the ability to look back over posts from over a decade ago.  I have been doing this in particular regarding digital slot cars.  They were introduced such a long time ago, but still haven't made inroads into the commercial side of the hobby - at least not in Melbourne where there is not a single digital track to be found.  I would be willing to pay a subscription to keep this forum alive.

Hi Grant fair time ago now when we used to compete in the proxies over there together, been looking at some of those recently and wonder how those guys we used to race with are doing now, guess we have lost a few over the years .

I have never done facebook or any ot the twit asphere , as my proxie life seems to be in Canada and the land of Trump tend to use HRW more but have noticed even there it se3ems to be the regulars you hear from mostly .

Have one of the NSR Lola's which i'm breathing on and will put the article out on here soon, interesting car actually must have the lightest body ever for NSR have to be careful not to break it, in standard form once set up a nice runner but as you know i don't often do standard chuckle .

Also doing another full race spec Thunderslot M8B  with the works including a 40K Cahozoo s can this car has the lot on it and very fast stopping it is interesting chuckle might post that as well regards to all.

Have you connected with a guy called Sam in Melbourne? He has a big oxigen system and is trying to build the digital network there.

Alex at Bonza Hobbies will have his details.
