sidecar steve
Hi All. Here is my little home track. The Taj MaShed is 6mx4m and has enough room for a work bench, four people racing and the track. I am blessed with a very forgiving spouse! First layout on new tables added some elevation (and painted the shed) Now for some scenery Also, all corners now have clear plexiglass to stop cars from hitting the concrete. Styrene bluestone! run up to top corner This bit is actually quite challenging Very tricky corners here Campground in the background Pit Area Since these last photos were taken I've added in a lot more trees, hardwired the track with a 0-15v 25a power supply and Parma 45's. I run a DingoTimer program on an old Pentuim 200MMX with the DingoSwitch to shut power off. I got too many misreads with the sensors embedded in the slot so I converted it to run a light bridge, less errors that way. Each lane is 30 metres give or take 10mm I can get a Scaley Mustang around it in 7.5 seconds. Best ever lap was 6.7 seconds with an SCX F1 Jaguar running a Pro motor and the magnet low!!! Too boring though. The SCX Dome Judd laps in the high 7's and fishtails wildly, now that's fun! Cheers Steve Quote cheers! Steve
boslot
I like your track, lots of detail has gone in to it great work steve. How do find the dingo timing program works, vince is thinking of getting the dingo set up for this new 4 lane track. regards bo
sidecar steve
Hi Bo. I like the dingo timer, it's pretty straight forward and does more things than I need it to so that's gotta be good! The race rotation works well and when you ad the dingo switch (which I recommend) there can be no jumped starts! Also handy for shutting down the power to all lanes in the event of a major pile up. The after sales service is sensational in my experience. Matt, the fella who runs DingoTimer, is a truly helpful person and continues to upgrade the product and all upgrades are free once you purchase the software. I could never get the led/sensor pair to work to my satisfaction, SCX cars in particular regularly failed to trip the beam. So I just went for a light bridge. Matt now makes a dead strip unit that looks interesting. Cheers Steve Quote cheers! Steve
Jacob
So drivers stand in the bottom left section? What happens when someone crashes up toward the back section? Do marshalls stand in the middle when racing happens/would they get in the way? Just wondering as Vince and I have talked about tracks built like this before, and thought that people would get in the way moving through that middle section. sidecar steve
Yes. Marshalling is done by someone sitting down up towards the top end. The layout is really quite compact and easily marshalled by two people. I had this in mind when I designed it as I really wanted to get as much track into a 6m x 4m shed as possible. Mostly we run crash and burn races so there is a huge incentive not to deslot. cheers Steve Quote cheers! Steve
