falcon
Ok I guess it's time to first say Hello to one and all ! Feeewww now that we have this of our chest's it time to show the making of Gully Raceway. This Started of by looking at everyone's track's from all over the world, and trying to find what I liked and disliked in what I was looking for, ( which was a drivers track ) I approached my friend Luch ( you know who you are ) :0) in helping me build what plans I had in my sweaty little palm's at the time. This lad btw can build you a fantastic Kitchen too.... ( Thanks Buddy ) So first of we started to build the Tracks base. As he was cutting and checking everything , I was left alone to the glueing and screwing of the legs with him air gun .. ( Silly Luch ) :0) So here are a few picture's to show you the way... With just a few hours later we sat back and looked upon this. Now that we have the base finished, It was time to start with the track itself. We placed all the MDF sheet's onto the floor and penciled out the road to victory, From there as you can see we cut out the bridge on another sheet of MDF overlaying the original. Time now for the Routing, Leaving luch to run around the track with his router in first place, Following close behind by yours truly in second with the Vacuum. After only an hour or 2 we had finished the 4 lane's ! Time for Lunch we say... His lovely wife Marina brings both of us some tasty Sandwiches and a nice cool Drink. c(_) Back now for the last run with the router over the 4 lanes using the recessing bit for the braid work to come, This was the quickest by far to finish. WoW what can I say , It's starting to look like a completed Slot car track ! Only the outside barriers to complete, and it's time to unscrew and pack the track and onto our Van and Ute then heading home for the winter !!! Yippee Finally after 2 and a half day's and it's Home !!!! A quick Glue and Screw of the Base and Track and it's time for the Undercoating and painting of the lane lines. Guess the garage will not look the part, So time for that to be updated also . Argggg After many Month's the braid finally arrived ! ( At least I had time to complete the garage while waiting ) Tried the St Enoch Grey Ferrador ( which you can see ) , but ended up Buying also the Natural Grey Ferrador and Matched the Depth I was after with the 2 mixed together.. A quick call to another friend on what is the best way to apply the braid, ( Thanks Peter ) and were off ! 24 Hours later and Finally Braided.. Added the Edge lines and chequered kerbing. After Many month's more we have a track running with matching Parma controller's. Track is now running fine after ironing out the bug's and its time to add the scenery. But first will have to buy another digital camera, as i have award points to use . :0) Scenery to Come. Falcon

falcon
First i started with the Mountain hill side... A rush to the local Bunning's hardware store to buy the foam fillers plumbers use, and a little spray here and a little spray there and we have the following. Just a little painting now to get the Rocky mountain look i'm after. and some green to where i might be adding the grass etc. More pictures of the scenery to follow within the next week or so. falcon
Falcon, I'm very very impressed. You and Bo have shown just how good routed tracks can look. Hello Davenic. It does take some time. Track was made last Dec, But must admit I had a break for around 5 to 6 month's waiting for the braid to arrive. I guess I could have started on the painting and scenery before it arrived, But knowing my luck I would break something while braiding. BTW Digital camera has arrived, But with ,my luck the batteries are flat and have to now buy a charger for the AA's... I do have the landscaping completed to about 80% Just have to paint all the spectators and benches , camera crew etc.. P.S Get back to your track Looking good. pmc356
Super track there and good to see luch is still the master craftsman. That really does look like a great one to race on. Are you planning on having any race meets in the future? Paul Quote Paul
kalbfellp
Very nice work, but even after looking at the first pic I was just waiting to look at the rest. That little saw bench in the back ground kind of gave it away! Can't wait to see the landscaping finished.
