As promised pictures of Craigs track

The road track is on a 3.6 x 1.8 mtr mdf board .... very technical as they say!

Track surface changed to Ferrador

The rally track started out as Eastern Creek on partical board, which was very rough so we turned it into a single lane rally track.

23 mtrs

Then added a bolt on extension, another 8 mtrs

Craig2.jpg

Then another 9 mtrs

DSCF1286.jpg

Total length 40 mtrs per lap. ohmy.gif

Lap record 30 117 sec Clockwise 30.479 sec Counterclockwise

We race 5 laps per stage.

Stage record Clockwise 2.35.029 sec Counterclockwise 2min 38.605 sec

Round Record (3 Stages) 7.55.370 sec

The table tennis net section(emergency safety barrier) unbolts and the other extension bolts into it or you can add the extension from my rally track.

With my 10 mtr track extension added .... 50 mtrs tongue.gif

The centre section has three connections to it so it can be bolted together in many different combinations.

Between Craig's track and mine,over 70

Clearly this is just the ducks guts!! Veryvery nice!! Why not somehow fit in an ssd powerbase and go digital with it? Run six cars out on the track at once, starting of a staggered interval start? That's what I'd be busting to do!!

Phil

That would be interesting no end, until you caught up to the car infront :(

It's a missnamed australian thing Vinno.. it's called football. Not rugby - not rugby league - not australian rules - it's called football. Football I tells ya!  :(

It's called football because europeans never learned how to use there hands and feet at the same time :(

Gazza,

Track looks great, I'm just getting into the slot car scene and I'm wondering why a lot of wooden routed tracks I see are painted a light colour. Is to make things better in some way. I would have thought if I was to build one I'd paint it black just like a real circuit.

Interested in what you think Gazza.

The rally tracks are painted a light colour or even brown just for the dirt effect.

The road tracks you can paint with many different surfaces

The best is Ferrador, they use it to paint the harbour bridge, you can pick it up from most paint trade places for around $75 a 4 ltr tin.If you can find a smaller size tin grab it as 4ltrs goes a long long way.

Ferrador comes in a dark grey colour, but i have seen it in a black

But be warned if you are going to use copper tape it will not stick to the painted surface, and use a brush not a roller, the roller leaves little air bubbles on the surface which makes the track a bit to rough and rips the crap out of the tyres.

Hope this helps, you can also spend a couple of weeks scrolling back through some of the old threds and you'll find answers to all your questions,if not just ask away we are all here to help.
