aastes
Final got some pictures of the full track. As can be seen the full GP track has electronic pits. The gates are actually modified 30 amp 12 v relays so no chance of ever burning them out. Operation is simple when you press the pit button the pit opens up. Release the button and the pit closes. Scuse pic as they were taken on my phone The full tracks includes 'squeese sections and banking. When not in use the whole thing splices in two and rolls up against the wall. A small u-section bolts onto the main track to give a smaller easy to just 'drop and run' track. Edited May 30, 2009 by gazza

Vinno
Steve I take it you have incorporated the track sensors in the pitlane too. Do you do this in your timing software? We had an endurance race at Repete's last year and had a great time racing and trying to work out pitstop strategies.
Guest Guest
Yep - three of our tracks have pits so all have sensors. You still need to count a lap when you pit even if it's a drive through without stopping Some of the closest racing comes when we run whats called 'pit stop racing'. The faster you go the longer you have to pit for ( the power gets cut.) That way most of the field all end up with about the same total laps. Plus the software will stops pit stops with 15 seconds to go to stop anybody from leaving it till the last seconds to pit. It's all in pursuit of the mythical programme which will allow all types of cars/drivers to race as fast as they can yet have close finishes
Eno the Wonderdog
I have a whole bunch of ideas as to how I think that programming stuff should work.. shame I'm not a programmer! I'm going to need a pit stop thing I think. It seems like too much fun to not do. Luckily I'm not going wood yet so I don't have to think too hard about it.. I like the look of the lumpy straight in the top picture.. that's great. Too many tracks look very much 2 dimensional - where the great circuits of the world are lumpy almost without exception.
