Eno the Wonderdog
That looks excellent! You need the next accessory for a floor track though... ...A PUPPY!! knoath
Ahh Eno, I've got one of those, affectionately known as the rat! Chihuaua (?) thing's been goin' since before I met the missus....(hers..) Dead and won't lie down! Enough said. It won't be a floor track for long, 9 month old will take care of that!!! Table to be built soon.... gathering timber supplies at the moment.... work's good to me! Sorry if I offended you...obviously a dog lover. Cheers. Ontheflipside
Great photography Knoath. Hope your still having fun with the new track and is up on the new? table. I'm banned from having the track in the house and cannot fit in our garage with the van and two cars, so am building a 6m x 4m extension to a recently built tool shed. Eno the Wonderdog might do more damage than the "Rat" Cheers and thanks for sharing Quote I can't believe that I wanted to grow up Mount Salt Panorama Track Combined Road and Rally Track built near Salt Pan Creek Padstow - Sydney A quick build rally track 2017 WRP Round 11 at Mt Salt Panorama https://i128.photobu...zpss7sqiwfj.jpg

knoath
After a bit of designing I've come up with a track that will measure 4x2.2m. The final meter on the right will have to be on a separate board that will fold up vertically, so there'll be no elevation there, hence the fly-over on the left side. I may change this layout if I can afford to get some R3's, maybe some R4's. Otherwise its all R2's. Time to clear out the garage....still collecting timber. Eno the Wonderdog
I'd strongly advise you to get some R3s and 4s Having the differing radii hugely enhances the racing 'experience'. It'll hugely sexy up the layout too! Hey - not offended about the Dead Dog thing - I've got a damned cat like that here & can't possibly get a puppy for the boys 'cause the cat won't like it.. knoath
Yeah, I know what you mean Eno. I'd love to have some constantly changing radii corners but i think you'll agree, 4x2.2m isnt a huge area to have all the corners you'd like.... Still....gotta do the best you can with what you got 'eh? Quote Cheers, Dick SCMR build thread Woodbrook Valley build thread "A Man's home is his castle, but his garage is his sanctuary!" Eno the Wonderdog
The track is the fixed cost that 'spensive to do buddy.. and once you have it.. you want to go to the shops & buy a router.... Have a go at a circuit with differing corners.. ..or just go buy a router! knoath
he he, I have barely gotten into the fun of a sport track and you want me to go routing already?, Gee, you blokes are keen, 'eh? knoath
A package came in the mail yesterday, from Slider. A heap of track and borders, power supply. So now I think I may have enough to build my track design. Now to start on the table...... knoath
Will do chips. Set up a track on the lounge floor, similar to the design, but wasn't real happy with it's playability...and my son was constantly coming off....so may have to change the layout. I'll be experimenting a bit untill I get a really good 'drivable' track. But once I start the table I'll get pics along the way. knoath
Well as it happens, plans change. I had my brother over on the weekend and as we did 30 yrs ago, out came the slots! Used the extra track i aquired to set out different tracks and came up with something similar to this. I'll need to buy some R4's and R3's, and a couple of 1/2 R2's as well, but all in good time. The long straight will be on a fold up board along the garage wall. This will allow me to get in and out of the car on a daily basis. The rest will be on the 3x2m table I will build so I can park the car under. After seeing sax0607's track, I'm itchin for digital now.... Cheers. knoath
I decided to set up what I could with the track that I have (R2's and straights) to get a feel for the track, well the straights and the hairpin at least. This hairpin isn't as bad as you'd think. It flows quite well considering there are 2 R1's in the middle of it. The middle section is a bit too tight, but as I said, it's all R2's at this stage. Will be getting some R3's and 4's soon. I also need another 14 straights.....the 2 long straights need another 3 full straights in each. knoath
Well I finally started the table... so here's some pix. This will allow me to park the car in the garage with the boot under the front of the table. It's quite sturdy, as I've gusseted the frame top and bottom. You'll notice the fridge....I didn't want to keep it, as it would have given me more room, but if it is to go in the future, I'll extend the table. You may be able to see the castors, this will allow me to move the table out so I can landscape in the corner and along the back wall. This pic shows the permanent part of the 'fold up' section for the straights and hairpin. It travels along the garage wall (3.6m). It's unfinished, there's a couple more legs to go in. Here's a shot looking back up the straight to the main table. Will finish off the straight section tomorrow, and then start wiring up for power taps. Then it's time to lay the track and see how it goes. Cheers. knoath
Thanks Eno....who's Ken? C'mon mate, all you need is the lumber and time. Hey sax, thanks mate! Your track has definately been an inspiration to get me off my arse!.... ready to race on next week?.. phew, i dunno ... I should have the track layed out and I hope to have the power taps etc in place, but as espsix will confirm, I don't rate my soldering skills too highly! I'll be giving it a go though. May update more tomorrow. Looks like everyone over to knoaths place for the first race meet of the year. Anyone interested, just P.M. me and i'll supply the address. I don't think so.
