Emu Park Raceway

Emu Park Raceway was pulled apart over the weekend, and is almost complete in it's rebuild. Still need to purchase a few new pieces for it to be complete, and then it is on with soldering it all together. Included the design which we put into a track design program, but we didn't use the program to work out the layout, it was all done without computer aid. You'll notice it doesn't actually connect, but with the bridges added in, it does. Also the bridge furthest to the right will be the opposite way around. It is approx 24 metres.

Track is now laid, fits together nicely, although the bridge across the top will stay on top the whole way now, with a few dips in that section also. Vinno's out soldering at the moment.....i'd help, but not enough soldering irons, and the one we have is not that great either.....

I'd have some photos of the track now, but the batteries died as I took the first shot.

Here are a couple of pics of how I wire my track to make sure I get no dead sections of track. I also notch in the wires at the joins so the track sits flat when layed.

There is a lot of work in this but the results are worth it. It is not too hard after a few times as you can leave sections wired up so you only have to join large lengths. I try to join up to about ten pieces at a time and flip it over before I join the major lengths.

Jacob was a big help too as he did a lot of it after school. Now it will be my fault if he doesn't do too well in the HSC.

The bridges are next on the card and then tacking down. I will be glad to finish so the car can go back in the garage when the track is stood up.

Hey guys, I'm new to all this, and electronics is my worst subject.

Does doing this work the same way as using power taps?

Or is this more a case of good connections from piece to piece?

Looks great so far, I enjoy reading the scratch builds, as I'll be starting one soon.

Cheers.

Cheers,

Dick
