kalbfellp
There has been a slight change in the order of the Rounds. Boss 302 cannot run his round until the end of the month,so Shelmore Hillclimb will now be the Penultimate Round. The cars have all now arrived. kalbfellp
My old big fingers and small keyboards do not go well together.. All the WRC cars are now ready to go, only Charles needed any work, rear bearing glued in and motor was also moving in its rear mount, probably due to loose bearing. kalbfellp
This is the Shelmore Park Hillclimb track for Round 8. We have completed the WRC cars. The cars were all checked last week and the only real problem was Charles Subaru had a loose rear axle bearing, easily fixed with a drop of Glue, also the rear of his motor was loose in the mount, more glue amd it runs much better. Several of the cars are showing a lot of tyre wear,or started with very small tyres. A few cars that had great grip at Round 1 do not seem to still have the same grip, including the Grandkids car. Stage one was run in a clockwise direction for 17 laps. Charles Subaru certainly made a great come back and I think if the tyres were not out of round it would have been even better. Mels car was very smooth but just lacked a bit of speed over the top. Stage 2 was in the anti clockwise direction and the tight harpin coused afew problems for some cars. But still a great field and all great to drive. The Podium for Round 8 of the WRC. I will try and post all the pics later tonight when I can get some internet speed. Tassie is struggling more than even now the Basslink cable has been cut for repairs, internet speeds are close to what dial up used to be! miveson
Series resulted updated.... Looks like a 2 horse race to the finish, an AMCC knock off Phil "I hate slot cars"? Mel continues to surprise with a great placing and overtakes yours truly for 3rd place. My heart goes out to Ben who had his worst result for the series and probably feels a bit like Arsenal, far away from the top and unlikely to challenge for a podium finish. Anyways, let's hope and pray that there are some pleasant surprises on the final round in the near future...... kalbfellp
That was very quick Mark thank you, were you sitting waiting for the result? I think Mel's car might just be the car to beat on Bat Florio where handling is the key. Peter Gunn
Ah soon the end is near and my scoobie faces the final curtain , my friends i did it wrong i should have done it my wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy , and now it only remains to see a fitting end a buriel at sea i think , at dawn on a nice sunny morning the car will be taken to the pier at Clacton and will be comitted to the deep for eternity this has been a long and painful journey for a little car the journey there must have half knackered it as it,s the worst car i have ever put up ( yet ), thanks Phil for all you do in the proxy arena , really appreciated. kalbfellp
All the action from Round 8 The crowd cheer on the kids. Fabian found out how to get a qhick lap time by cutting some corners! Charles Subaru, now much better without the kangaroo hop. Keiths Subaru crosses what looks like an English bridge! I will do some back to back against my Avant Subaru after the final round. Ross's C4 coming out of the underpass. Mels similar car continued on its charge up the leader board with another strong result. This car is very smooth and very similar to my Pug to drive. My Pug that surprised even me,as it was much better than its team mate, that had been faster on the Hillclimb before Round 1. Gazza's Fiesta was qhick but a bit twitchy over the top and would not take the top flat out. The crowd liked Mivesons Focus Craigs Fiesta coming off the wooden bridge during Stage 2,like Gazza's this car is very hard to drive on the fast sections. Bens C4 in one of the tight corners. Thank everyone for letting me play again, they are all great cars, the top cars were able to be driven over the top section flat out and that makes a big difference in the total time. IMO every one should fit fresh tyres before the event,as most were running MJK tyres but the grip level varied a lot. Next up the Raid cars,as soon as time permits. kalbfellp
The Raids were run yesterday with no problems. The Grandkids Avant Lancer was great and very fast and smooth on the Hillclimb. It could be driven flat out over the top with no problems. Mivesons car was a surprise in stage 1 being very easy to drive and again flat over the top section. Rustys entry this year is just not ar easy to drive as last years truck. The OTHER Bowler from New Zealand, just need some more development, very tippy when driven fast. Dylans truck was smooth and fast,BUT actually seemed to have too much grip on the tight corners lifting the inside wheel/ What can i say,too easy to drive on this track. That fast I could not get it in focus. Now IF it would only work on other tracks. Boss's truck just needs some development. Ross Short Pajero was very smooth and easy to drive, The short wheelbase di make it hard to drive the fast top section flat out. Charles Bowler was felt rough BUT still went well,a real surprise, when the stage times were totalled. Bens Buggy was just not smooth. My Evo pajero will be gived to the Grand kids to prepare! Lacks grip and is rough. Mivesons Red Bull looks great on the track was easy to drive, just lacked some speed on this fast track. While the kids Pajero did run away and hide here,Charles with another good performance should increase his points lead. Ross also had another good result. These raids and WRC car go off the Bat Florio now for the final Round,I am sure the tight hillclimb will throw up some different results. The Historics are ready to run as soon as I can organize my crew. Quote Phil https://www.hobartminiaturecarclub.com/ Email
miveson
Well a big thanks to Phil for running another great round of the proxy. Must say I really enjoy the almost weekly updates, the format works so well as interest is kept high. On to the series update that saw very few changes, nothing different at the top of the leaderboard other than the misery felt by @miveson on Stage 2 and well although I was within a few points of AMCC the gap now looks to large to take down in the final round. All is not lost - my recommendation is that next year we only run on Sydney tracks. Anyways enough of pointless rambling, another great round for the podium placers whose rows are looking very colourful by the day. The top 3 drivers all have 2 round wins to their name and so the Round 9 winner will definitely have bragging rights for outright round wins. kalbfellp
Mark I think the Avsnt will struggle on Bat Florio and Your 4wd may just be an advantage there. I think the first two places are all sorted, with only you and the kids to sort out third. Ross's short wheelbase may suit the tight Hillclimb. Thanks for posting the points so quickly. kalbfellp
Some of the action from this round. Stu's great Alpine, class of the field. Not up to last years car. Nice looking BUT the Fly did not work well in one direction The MG needs better Grip Just like the MG this one has very little grip. Good and used, but still fast. Last year we had Mivesons mini this year Bruce's Escort! Lancia a bit over powered, just need sone more tuning and less motor. Stubbos car suited this track. Peter Gunn
Thanks for running the round always appreciate the work put in on our behalf, enjoyed your comment about my RS200 as it is last years one with a different body, looks like its picked up a problem this year as it's way of the pace now. kalbfellp
Keith the problem with your car is mainly lack of grip, did you fit new tyres? I do notice that cars with fresh tyres seem to have more grip. IMO some of the Eurethane tyres yres give more grip when fresh. Part of the track has also been resurfaced since last year. Strange thing Proxy racing, the Grandkids WRC Pug was much better then my car on this track before Round 1 last year and now it is slower! Peter Gunn
Hi Phil noticed it was round about the same result on Round 1 there seems the car don't like the track, and checking back to 2014/15 exactly the same, round about the 8-9-10 th mark on that track, was thinking of changing the gear ratio to 9x25 instead of the 9x27 it was on last year but decided to leave it alone, think they were new rears, have to put my thinking hat on for something different next time, have a Teamslot Alpine but thought that to big and hairy for some tracks there.
